What on the basis you have a small car parked next to a big car and are somehow surprised?

On the contrary, it perfectly encapsulates the purpose of the thread, and illustrates the problem with parking spaces, which are designed to accommodate the cars of yesteryear.
To many people at the time the 1968/9 Minor (just like my Grandma's thank you) would have seemed a perfectly normal family car.
Similarly the 2013/4 SUV would be seen as a perfectly normal family car.
So to my mind this photo perfectly encapsulates the theme of this thread, cars have got bigger, much bigger over time.
I think that is quite unrealistic thinking tbh. The Morris Minor was always pretty small... it's even in the name ffs rolleyes "minor".

Lots of massively larger cars about in 1969..... The Jag posted only a few posts above yours would be a great example.

And Evoques are hardly run of mill family cars these days.... have you seen how much they cost? They start at £35k-40k

A Fiesta or Focus sized vehicle is probably far more akin to the Morris Minor in 2023 in terms of your point.

the old one fits the scene/picture best me thinks, would be a classic if the picture made in black and white :-)

My father had a white 1500TL Type 3 Variant like that (with the standard wheels) in Sri Lanka back in 1970 - I was brought home from hospital in it. My first car ride ever!

My son is Suzuki Carry in Bali where he lives.

Spot the wing on the back of it! That is his daily transport.

Obviously different classes of car, and the NC can't really be classed as a classic yet, but noses were aligned and the size of the BMW against it was ridiculous.
