I put a pic of a PB on the "What car are you obsessing about thread" it's a case of I would so like to own any 2 seater OHC prewar MG, 4 or 6 cylinder. edit, it is finished in 2 tone blue known as "Oxford and Cambridge Blue" ![](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8457/8057193921_564a01657e_c.jpg)

I heard, not too long ago, that there is a guy in Germany with crated engines. He also specialises in the RO80.
The period mod was a Ford V4. This made the Ro80 into a very pleasant and useable car. RX8s seem to fully discount their thirst and engine rebuild cost in ther prices ATM.SMGB said:

Is it yours then, or just a potential purchase? I don't see the V4 as being a problem, is it the same one as used by Saab? This one has a V4, I'm in two minds whether to leave it in or try to find a modern engine that will fit.

I don't think it's the same, I think they used the Essex V4 for the conversions.

That car is, quite simply, "right".
Brookvilles are fine by me as long as they are traditional, your car absolutely NAILS it. Love the Terraplane gauges too... what a kick ass car. Someday Mine will be on the road too...

Sorry but I couldn't disagree more. It defeats the point of owning one in my eyes. The V4 totally spoils the car, it's hard to imagine a less suitable engine.
The RO80 with it's original rotary was a magnificent car. Jumping from the NSU into a contemporary Ford was like stepping back in time twenty years.
Back in the day I thought I was the bees knees in my 2.0 litre Daytona Yellow Capri.
When I changed it for the NSU the Ford felt agricultural and very very old-fashioned.
New toy, stablemate for the Austin 7. People on the watch forum like to get a birth year watch,so I reckon a birthyear TR4 is in order. 1961 ex LHD USA,overdrive but no Surrey. Seems to have aquired some 4A sidelights in the past 51 years and a 4A grille. Still it would be no good if there was nothing to do/improve...
