I think I know the sensible answer but I need to collect some tiles today and they are effing heavy. I've worked it out and it's about 600kg - 1 trip or two in the LSE?

oh ye of little faith. This is with all 600kg still on board, frankly you can't tell and it didn't really drive any differently. Try that with coils!
And yes I still have a boot floor.
Quite impressed with the old girl.

When I used the 38A to pick up a load of tiles the only problem was the suspension rising as I unloaded, because of the extra air in the system for the load. As I'd moved the load onto the tailgate I couldn't reset the ride height to entry height. Had unloading a lot harder.

I picked the first 300kg up in our e55 which has air suspension at the rear. It hasn't moved since unloading so currently looks like a drag racer with its behind in the air.

when I picked up 750kg of sand in my last lse some years ago, I simply left the engine running and the car kept levelling the suspension

600kg should be fine, of course.

I've had that in the back of a SWB Series, and it was pant wettingly wayward at times but mostly manageable. An RR should be fine - I'd happily stick that much in mine on coils.

I think the door open sensor on the tailgate was stopping the system adjusting.

I must admit that having built a Rangie with as few electronics as possible I am wondering whether to investigate air suspension. Dropping the ride height at speed is a really good feature that makes a big difference on motorways which is why I’ve dropped the suspension 1” but when pottering a Rangie in bags is so hard to beat for ride.

Can’t remember with the old one but can check with the new I thought the tailgate didn’t affect that, having the doors closed caused the air suspension to adjust - but may be wrong and possibly that car had a faulty tailgate sensor!

A random Range Rover question now. Using standard 7jx16 3 spoke alloy wheels, if I fit 235 70 r16 tyres do I need to fit spacers for inner wing clearance or simply just fit and forget?
Thanks for any advice smile

I have that size on mine with no modifications and it’s fine.

The car was on the LSE cyclones so not sure if they’re the normal 7 inches. The tyres were Avon turbospeeds and I seem to recall getting quotes approaching £2k for replacing them!

I had to have the steering range adjusted to stop 255s rubbing on full lock but not much. Back on 235s and now and its fine.

Avon turbospeeds are expensive. I looked at a set for the xj coupe and went with modern tyres instead.
What profile are the 255’s then? 255 60 r16?
