I guess if it wasn’t done in the original Resto, Tom Hartley don’t want to erode their margins by getting work done that won’t materially alter what people will pay for it.

You could argue the colour is what will put most ppl off buying it though. It really is an unpleasant colour....sort of 1970s school dinner combined with baby sick.

That almost looks Bahama Gold in some pics...but it must be sandglow vomit

Another of my least favourite colours.

Although I have a odd thing for russet brown.

I would never spend that sort of money on a beige car full stop. Hideous colour in my eye. It’s like all the colours of paint in the world and it’s that.

Russet Brown. The legendary colour that you can never escape. You can’t go a year or to a continent without it being there.

That with a matching 1275 Clubman and an XJ6 would make for an amusing start to a collection/mental health issue.

Often wonder whether a Moke tarted up to matched spec as the Rangie would be a bit of fun.

It looks like Bahama Gold to me, probably one of the last as it's on a V-plate. Having checked, it's regd Aug '79 and colour shown as 'Gold'. Sandglow was introduced Oct '79.

I actually think it suits the early cars, particularly the 2-doors, if you want the full period look. Each to their own.

I think the xj6 beige was called green sand. Wonder how many new owners didn’t look properly at the colour chart and were horrified to see a beige xj6 sitting in the showroom? Nasty!

There was a ghastly beige/brown but also a grim darker brown that was like a coffee with a splash of milk. My parents had one each at the end of the 70s!!! Russet Brown was quite sharp by comparison.

Quite how my father bought one and then thought a second one was a great idea is beyond me. He bought them both from an F1 team owner at the time so he wasn’t the only nutter who did the double!!

That’s an Australian built one that’s been imported to the UK, hence the bright colour and the bigger mirrors.

Carpet is a bit funny also. I think Aussie tax law meant that carpets were luxury items so they were fitted by the dealers?

If that is an Aussie car then isn’t this yellow the legendary ‘council yellow’? I don’t know much about the Aussie CKD cars but I was once told a story that they bought some cheap surplus paint from the local council and for one year only used it on the kits? Is this a true story?

Anyway, below that add is this one: looks like someone crashed it through the Vandan Plas department of Halfords?

I’ve just got my top tailgate back in the car after putting on missing parts and adjusting. I’ve replaced the plastic arm in the locking system but it is not working correctly. When locking, it tries to lock, but doesn’t work. When unlocking, the tailgate is then locked?

I am missing spring mxc4892. My original one fell apart and I can’t find anywhere that does them. Could this be causing the issue? Or would the solenoid work without the spring?

Thanks.

The yellow one has been for sale for ages, as have the various Reg Vardy (from on the buses?) ‘heritage’ ones....as have quite a few actually that seem to come up again and again.

Does a well-know Oxfordshire based dealer actually sell any cars? They seem to be advertised for some time at......aspirational....money.

Market is currently very slow for Rangies but it always has been for the company you mention.

I am not in the market for a £60k anything but I am looking seriously for a decent example. Would you mind helping my understanding with some detail on what is wrong or non standard spec on the vehicle in that advert? Any observations would be appreciated. Thanks
