It looks like one of those 1930's small-capacity Brooklands specials - maybe Riley based ?

Interesting exhaust manifolding..

It's a 4.4 litre. Not a Riley.

Indeed, the first oil-burner to race at Le Mans, way back in 1949. Powered by a mighty 4.4 litre six cylinder diesel making... 70bhp.

Dammit - I I read about it in the May edition of C and SC just a week or so ago !

Other Le Mans oddities listed in the article included the Dome Zero driven by my good friend Tony Trimmer at Le Mans 1979. An interesting but flawed concept, quick in a straight line though...

Doubly ironic as Frank Biela also did that in an Audi!

"Not difficult"...

Looks American, late 1930s / early 1940s. Lincoln?

Looks Jowett sort of style to me although nothing I can specifically put a finger on.

Not a Jowett.

When I mentioned not early 40s, that's because it first appeared in 1948.

To add to the Delettrez diesel, there was another diesel entered in 1950, the mid-engined MAP.

From the windscreen back it looks like a Citroën Traction Avant but I haven't seen the front bit before.
