Was that by any chance out Harrogate way? (On Norwood Lane?)
Nope, Byker, Newcastle.

Sold it to a chap in Southern Ireland.

And yes, plate wasn't too bad.

This XJS is parked on a 20 degree slope, it must be seized solid in place. Looks like it is slowly being glued to the driveway by organic growth around the tyres.

I showed this to a friend of mine who's name bears a considerable similarity to this numberplate, he loves these and this photo made him weep softly, knowing that A) the owner would probably never sell it to him and B) the condition was visibly deteriorating.

In a sleepy rural village in Oxfordshire.

Pretty sure I posted this one some months back but it seems there's a large number of v12 jags in states of rust on people's driveways, why is that? Are they awaiting a halcyonic revival of interest in these heavy blocks of retro rust? Who knows.

In E3 area, East London.

Yeah, pretty rank, isn't it. Seconds before I took that photo a cat was resting and sunning itself on the roof, which was appropriate given the while leaping cat thing. :O

Wouldn't take much to get those looking presentable again.

A day with a jet wash and machine polisher would do it wink

No, it wasn't your one Sim - I seem to remember it was that light metallic blue. And every fuse had suffered corrosion - and it had all the gizmos, leccy seats etc, and nothing electrical worked on it ...

I think he paid not a lot and sold it on for not a lot, either ... !

Wasn't it a pale blue colour?

You know, he should at least ask. That's how I got my Quattro.

No, mine's an MB, and thankfully wasn't as far gone as that one looks.

I would LOVE to get a jet wash on that! It would be as satisfying as peeling dead skin from a week old sunburn.

I knew some classic Jaguar's had Moss gearboxes, but didn't realise you could get a moss body-kit for the XJS!

hehe

Very early lhd WR with the quad headlamps. Someone braver (and richer) than me would need to take that on.

Yes, it's the genuine ur- of ur-s. I'd be very happy to take that on at the right price, but I think it's probably long gone by now, and unlikely to be the right price. Nice colour too, I think Helios Blue?

Indeed, when and why did the "Ur-" of Ur-Quattro become a moniker for later models? It used to be the description used for these early LHD only models.

I think once "quattro" (lower case) became the term for the 4 wheel drive version of any Audi model, the term "Ur-Quattro" became known as the way to refer to the original Audi Quattro (upper case) - any iteration of the full house turbo version.

And yes, this one is Helios Blue Metallic (code LA5Y).

Indeed. I can't remember whether it had gone the last time I went along there (which in turn was probably 6-7 years ago) or whether it's gone from Google streetview. But I recall seeing that it's gone.
