Seen on the back road to Overton dismantlers, Dyce, Aberdeen on Wednesday of this week.
A Vauxhall (Royale & Honda Prelude). Both looked like they had lived under trees for a while as they were covered in moss and leaves but neither looked that bad. The VX was without wheels but had little visible rust to speak of. Damn shame, two nice cars going to die I suspect.
Registration: OJX353T
Make: VAUXHALL
Model: ROYALE AUTO (COUPE)
Colour: WHITE

The badges were a bit odd, inlay seemed (home) painted in red, damned shame they were off to the knackers yar, they didn't look too far gone.

An R-R of that era can look good on the top but be like a Tetley teabag underneath, full of those little perforations.
I was at a family wedding once and in the company of my father and uncle, both motor engineers, and they were looking at the wedding car, an obviously oversprayed white Silver Shadow. My uncle commented on the probable rust underneath the paint, walked to the car and wiggled the lip of the rear wheel arch. At which point an arc of metalwork about 10 inches long came off in his hand. He quickly looked round (the guests were busy having pics taken), and sidled over to a bush to deposit the evidence.
There are probably more rotten ones than sound ones left.

Just read the Daily Fail write up on this - there's meant to be an RS2000 on there too. I struggled to see it. AndyLeysh said:

My dad had a brand new estate version of one of those in 1964. GMK 603B - it was suede grey over safari beige (nothing the matter with my memory ).
The most boring ordinary car I can recall, never thought I would see one with the tag "classic".

We also had one as a family car back in the day. AKT 318B (istr!). It was a petrol-y blue colour.
Will our offspring be commenting similarly on pictures of Cavaliers in 20 years' time?!?!
They'll probably be saying: "What?!!!..... You had to operate the vehicle yourself! - No way!"Will our offspring be commenting similarly on pictures of Cavaliers in 20 years' time?!?!
Followed by: "You were lucky! - petrol was cheap back then! - not like today at £6 per litre!"
