At the time, when there were engine maladies, a popular conversion was to fit the V4 engine from the Corsair.
Replacing an engine smoother than Brian Ferry in a a velvet smoking jacket with one that outvibrates a tumbledrier filled with breezeblocks was never going to be anything other than an act of poverty or desperation.hidetheelephants said:

I had a 2000 GT V4 Capri once and I thought it was alright really and quite fast. I havent driven an NSU, but I have driven a Mazda RX8 and I wasnt impressed with the rotary engine, it had to be screwed all the time to extract any power, at low revs it was gutless. E32's are so rare now that seeing two is like winning at bingo.
I'm quite pleased, but they do need a bit of work! The first one, a 735i, started and ran, but then leaked fuel and cut out, so had to be winched on to the trailer.
The second one, a 740i
started and ran, managing to drive out of the garage, but then cut out and won't re start
A bit of T cut and it'll be alright!
