I did not notice this... What exactly do you mean by doors bend out?
Door tops/window frames, meaning there’s a gap at the top.
exactly - you can start to see daylight!
My ‘92 (Swiss car, Vogue SE-isch spec) doesn’t do this…. Fortunately!

BTW, what happened to the glorius www.range-rover-classic.com homepage?

You can't reach it anymore, but instead a google account login window pops open.
WayBackMachine has a screenshot from february this year, but nothing from there on.... frown

I'd noticed that the last time I went to use it as a reference.
I was wondering exactly the same thing.

Also the SD1 site 'vintagemodelairplane.com' seems to have disappeared.
Pity as it had a lot of information relevant to the RR Classics with 4CU & flapper AFMs.

Remember my joy that my AC in the RRC is working like a bull? Well not anymore frown
It was working this afternoon for around 1h. I had to do same shopping and was parking and starting the far about 5 times. It was always working perfectly until I stopped the car for 2 minutes in an underground parking. Not locking the car. Upon restart, nothing. On the two AC settings and blower on III there comes no air at all frown
On the other two setting, everything works, although on I and II there seem to be no air coming either…

I will need to have a closer look tomorrow… anybody has any tips?

Start by checking any fuses.

Can't offer much other help as the ac on mine involves opening & closing the windows!

Alright, the AC seems to be working again after I pluged and unplugged some fuses, mainly the ones under the LHD passenger seat.
Having read a bit into the subject, it seems a common fault around the blower motor resistor under the cowl/decker panel.

All my symptoms seem to indicate I need a new, improved version of this: https://www.roverparts.com/heating-cooling/control...

And in proper BL style, the installation can be a bit of a fuss eek

Well, for now, I think the AC is working if you drive and enough wind cools down the resistor, but it doesn't seem to work long when you are for instance standing in hot summer traffic when you would need it the most laugh

Me again (I seem to populate this thread lately ...)

After a short-ish family trip with the RRC (150 miles, 2.5h drive each way) I'm happy to report the AC is working an made the 35°C we had over the weekend just about bearable. redface But damn those Morris Marina door handles get freaking hot in the sun curse

This trip was somewhat a test drive to see weather the wife lets me take the RRC on family holiday duties in a couple of weeks to Italy and S.o.F.
One point that has come up are sun shades. She demands something for the little one in the back.

Does anyone have found some good ones for the rear windows? Ideally I would like a set of 5 custom made ones (all windows from the B-pillar back) that clips into the frame and stay in place. I have found a company that has them for the P38 Range Rover or the Disco 1. No RRC unfortunately.

Which one do you recon would fit the RRC halfway? Apart from the rear window of the Disco 1 obviously...
Or does anyone else have a good solution? Tinting is not an option for me!

It was something I never found a good off the shelf solution for. Once the children were about 5 years old they had the fabric Sun shades in the foldable frames that were held on by suckers as they could move those about as they wished but the simplest solution for really young children is to just go full gangsta for a few years with some dark, removable tints. You're on the continent so won't look like an English caravan and coke punter unless your favourite driving shirt is an England football top?

Classic and Discovery door frames are the same, so there’s a decent chance the rear ones might fit.

Thanks very much for the feedback! I just ordered a set for the Disco 1 from carshades (and the last one they had in stock for the 996/7)!
A quick google search confirmed that Disco 1 and RRC indeed share the same window frame, so I took ma chances. The rear windows aren't similar, but hopefully I can make them work somehow.

The Disco windows look smaller, so maybe I get to fit them somehow ....
The rear one is useless to me tough, and I will fit a generic, rectangular one with suction cups. Now if anyone in Switzerland needs a Disco 1 rear sun shade, give me a shout!

I believe that Ramon Alban, the site owner, died some time ago.

This has arrived:

Here the visible confirmation that the Disco 1 and the RRC indeed share the same door frames:

Not the rear ones, but it's a good enough fit (actually it just sits there and is not mounted)

Looks good to me thumbup

Spare wheels covers the gap on the rear left side perfectly:

And a cheap £2 screen (100 x 50cm) from the local shop for the rear window:

Now I would be good to good, if I had not maybe/probably have a head gasket failure cry

That's the dark brown plastic. There were a couple of colours for the dash and all that stuff.

There was the dark brown plastic which was Bokhara. Then there was the dark brown leather and carpet, both almost a Bournville Chocolate sort of brown? I'm sure they had two different names.

I spent ages searching on EBay for all the Bokhara trim and the leather seats (common in an LSE and the carpet.

Unfortunately the range-rover-classic.com website appears to have gone and it's taken with it the huge resource where this information sat.
range-rover-classic.com is at least available on the Internet Archive:

Sorry, I missed that another poster had already posted that - obv need an eye test. Not trying to steal Filibuster's thunder smile

On the topic of RRCs, I'm following this thread because I've always had a soft spot. A friend of mine had an Overfinch when new (from memory, it was basically a 570 but without the 5.7 V8 conversion, i.e. precision steering, quick rack, all-new suspension, and so on). He was also an instructor at Silverstone, so was rather handy with this (for the time) huge beast on the road, which handled in a way that (again, for the time) seemed to defy physics.

I only drove it the once, but was smitten with everything except the awful driving position - I have longer legs than I have arms, and the steering wheel seemed a very long way away.

I missed the chance to buy various JE Engineering and Overfinch beasts back in the early days of eBay (they used to sell for a few thousands - and there was the single prototype Land Rover 110 570i that IIRC made £2-3k too) - always, if I'm honest, put off by the tales of rust, and my memory of that compromised driving position.

Is the driving position as bad as I remember? Is there anything that can be done about it, short of a "carlos fandango" super-dished wheel? For some reason I'm still drawn to these beasts (despite having no need for any more expensive mistresses in my life...).

With long legs you definitely need a smaller steering wheel, which are easy to source but what you'll probably find is that you lack seat support under your thighs which causes discomfort on long journeys. However retrimming the seat with support or tilting the base back are options.

Sadly mine has now come up with the dreaded brake warning light again. I replaced the accumulator (mine is a 1990) and now intermittently you get the light and very unassisted brakes, ie when in drive it takes your bodyweight on the pedal to stop it creeping. Turn on and off again and it is fine.

Sounds electrical to me given the intermittency but I already replaced the relay.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate, failing that it is old school diagnostics. It’s a little scary to drive now obviously, an emergency stop would take 100 feet from 20mph….
