Following the logic here, should we all be investing in paintings of a GTO?

I'm one step ahead of you - I've already started investing in paintings of a man painting a 250GTO.

Go long, lads.

That's how Vanderbilt started. Good plan.

Surprised that it is going to auction.
Rumours has it that the owner of the GTO is Evert Louwman. And who is co-owner of Bonhams...?

I thought all the cars were consigned from the Maranello Rosso museum? http://www.bonhams.com/press_release/16940/

Such a shame they're breaking up the museum as it's a fabulous collection and - to a certain extent - shrouded in mystique because you're not permitted cameras inside. It's the perfect riposte to the rather glossy Galleria in Maranello.

Reports suggest Bonhams is also for sale at the moment.

Having a 250 GTO to sell publicly will generate great exposure for the firm.

The car will, without doubt, smash the record for a public car. This will get a lot of media attention which could be part of a strategy to attract potential investors.

They are apparently looking for investment, but also at the possibility of selling the whole company.

Open to offers. Then again, I might just leave it out in the rain for a bit, sell it as a barnfind catalogue in a month or two and charge twice as much...[url]

Personally I am far more interested in the infinitely rarer 275 Speciale at RM..

If I had infinite funds, ( evidently not)…this would be my preference over the GTO.

That picture was taken at the Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum.

A lot of the cars are loaners so it is possible.
