If my numbers come up tonight then this would be in my garage.
Although I’ve not met him in person, only spoken to him on the phone, the current owner comes across as a thoroughly decent chap and although he is sad to see it go I hope it gets a good price

Originally he bought it 30 years ago out of exchange and Mart!

Just seen this thread - wonder if this was the same car an Essex based l
old buddy of mine owned some 40 odd years back? same colour - interior was tan leather, fulled loaded, was supposedly (and originally correct for 69 an 70) a FE 428 CJ lump up front and was sold to him as such - however I seem to recall it later turned out to be 'cooking' 390 BBF engine......the 428 was long gone!

For the buyer, 356,500 with premium! I had been tempted at the 100-150k estimate....

I’m genuinely pleased for him. In my short dealings with him last month he came across as a really nice guy and was very helpful to me.
I sent him a short congratulations message last night and he said he was in total shock!
I watched the auction live and it was quite exciting. The auctioneer made the joke, “there’s no rush for this sale, in fact we have all the time in the world!”

Incidentally, I’ve read a bit more about it on the Cougar forums in the US from people who know far more than me and it seems that initially 2 were ordered and both were used in. Switzerland. As it became apparent that they were being damaged, this one was ordered.
All 3 came back to the uk initially where 1 was scrapped.
This one was definitely used in the barn scene. It went through 8 owners, was drag raced etc until Rob bought it 30 years ago. It wasn’t advertised as a Bond car and it’s former role seems to be have been forgotten ! No one seems to know for sure which car was used in Portugal anymore.
I’ve no idea where’s it’s gone.

£356,000 is an incredible sum of ££ money !
Someone Very wealthy, has bought that.

I was thinking that the death of Sean Connery, had pushed the price of this ex Bond Cougar, sky high, but Connery wasn’t in OHMSS !!

What kind of ££ value have the two Aston DBS, that starred in the film ?? ( one of which, is in OZ )

If I had a LOT of money I’d have bought this, and paid more!
It’s been one of my dream cars for a long time but I’d also need a lot more cash to build a purpose built house with an indoor display area.
There’s NO way I’d take it outside and I suspect this will be its future unfortunately.
