Bugger I missed the Triumph prototype, The Beast was a weird one to see in a different colour wasn't it?

The beast has received a fair bit of work since the late brake show video. It's had a complete dash retrim along with the colour change, RR grille and the change of lights.

It certainly drew a big crowd all day!

Great pics thanks .

What's the yellow pickup next to the light blue 126 ?

Edit....looking closer it appears to be another 126 with an odd add on back piece ,any pics?

Thought it might be a Reliant Fox but no .

Fiat 126p "Bombel" prototype, or a replica of it. I believe 16 were produced.

Interesting story behind this MG Midget ‘Jubilee’ …

Interior was absolutely mint.

I was living in Abingdon at the time the factory was shut and it was a pretty dismal experience when it happened …

There was an amazing self buit Rover 75 V6 two door four seat drophead...power roof, fairings behind the back seat. Beautifully trimmed.Karmann would have been hard put to do it better. On a Q plate...must have been an interesting exercise getting it approved! I think the basis may have been a two door 75 coupe. ..where did THAT come from???

All the Ford club stands were located in Hall 8, which was somewhat off the beaten track, so to speak.

Slightly surprised that the Bauer magazines (Practical Classics and Classic Cars) had no official presence at the show - I know PC sponsor the Spring Restoration Show at the same venue, but still...

The Ford stands were great and I particularly enjoyed the MK5 Cortina’s where in previous years there has been an unfortunate lack of.

Cheers, its a lot of work, There's Public liability insurance to pay, you also have to pay for the carpet, then theres transport costs, with some owners paying for Trailer hire, there's the hotel bill for 3 nights, transport back and forth to hotel, meals, Give away sweets and the occasional drink over 3 days.

It really isn't cheap at all, The show cost me personally over £700 pounds!

It seems to be a cost vs benefit thing, Octane aren't there either.

What puzzles me though is that C&SC have a large stand each year but their writers are nowhere to be seen. In the past I was able to talk to James Elliott and the late David Evans, but the last few years - no-one. I tend to go on Fridays and did ask on the stand; apparently their people were out in the halls somewhere. Yes, the show needs good coverage but you would think they would leave one person to talk to existing and potential subscribers.

I showed my ‘65 Mustang coupe 20 years ago with the owners club who paid for everything to do with the stand itself, pictures, carpet, the electrics etc. we had the usual Bullitt chase on loop which always gets people on the stand …

Three nights in a cheap hotel on the Hagley Road annd the meals/drinks at night still soon add up …

Enjoyable though!

I remember talking to Giles Chapman from C&SC in 1985/86 - no idea if he’s still about the classic car scene.
