1983...2CVs were made until 1988 in France and for another 2 years in Portugal.

On the M6 southbound at lunchtime, this rather used classic was having no difficulty cruising at motorway speeds. I followed it for several miles and it frequently was in the third lane surprising several other drivers with it's turn of speed.

ETA: some words from the owner/driver (?) here

"On a flat road like the Pennsylvania Turnpike, this car would max out around 55 or 60 miles an hour. It might reach 65 if I push the pedal flat on the floor, but everything is shaking and moving at that point. "

That was in 2011 so maybe it's been uprated a bit since.

The way it was batting along made me suspect that it had been "played about with"

I'd estimate that it didn't go below 65 for the couple of miles I was behind it.
