Forthright, do you work somewhere where you can take those snaps on the A1? I can't imagine you sit there all day waiting for classics to show up?!
No mate, its just my hobby. I enjoy snapping interesting trucks from up there mainly, the cars are a nice extra (the bridge is only up the road from me)http://s1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb394/Forthrig...

M9 towards Stirling today.
Nice to see them "coming home
(can't enlarge but they had U.S. plates)
Given the American plates, is the one being towed most likely to be an automatic?Nice to see them "coming home

If that is the case, would it be okay to tow it by it's driven wheels if the drive shafts are not disconnected?
(I only ask because I've always been under the impression that it is not good to tow auto's for any distance on their driven wheels without the drive shafts disconnected [and for all I know, the drive shafts may have been disconnected in this case anyway]).

is that not what neutral is for?
I was always under the impression with auto's that even if you put it in neutral there is a problem towing on the driven wheels as the gearbox does not go into a "complete neutral" situation where it is fully free wheeling and that towing it can cause a damaging drag on the gearbox. One should not tow an automatic vehicle for any distance with the driven wheels turning. I'm sure the chap towing the valuable classic above knows that. Don't you guys have enough drama in your lives that you have to get anxious about something which shouldn't really concern you at all?

I think the auto box was only available in the LWB version (i.e. 2+2 6 cylinder or V12 FHC & DHC). That's an S2 Roadster being towed so must be manual. If that is the case, would it be okay to tow it by it's driven wheels if the drive shafts are not disconnected?
