May surprise a few to see that Bolton has such architecture.
Many old Northern towns do/did. They had such wealth 150 years ago.
Here's Huddersfield Railway Station. (1980s looking at the cars).

Great to see Huddersfield Station crop up here, I spent many happy hours ‘spotting’ there. The whole of Gerorge’s Square has superb Architecture with the Station flanking it to the North and the Lion Chambers to the South, complete with Larger than life size Lion sculpture on the roof. (fibre glass, from the early eighties I seem to recall).

Indeed smile (don’t know if it’s fibreglass though)

It is, we had it in our factory in the late seventies to put a steel frame under it and lift it on. The original one dissolved.

Le Mans Crescent, so a rather fitting name for this thread/forum as well. smile
Or Cinderella Rockerfellas! My Mum and Dad met in the Palais. He drove her home in his Armstrong Siddeley Whitley

White 3 series E30 on the left was launched in the UK in 1983 - I think that's the newest car I can see. Also what's on the right next to the Spitfire? Bentley Mulsanne? Wowzer!
Bentley Mulsanne. It looks to be a Mulsanne Turbo as it has what appears to be a painted radiator shell, model introduced late 1982 so the 1983 or thereabouts suggestion is a good one.

I would say mid 80s or even 87. Its so rare to have so many new cars in one place, so some of those would be a few years old and "new" cars from 84 or 85 wont be in a station carpark yet.

On the right of the Mulsanne is an SD1 with a rear wiper which came in the series 2 facelift launched in the UK in mid '82 so we're about right on the timings.

It's a great pic, very atmospheric. Taken from the bottom of Via dei Fori Imperiali which leads up to Piazza Venezia. There's building work going on there at the moment so much of it is covered with screens and hoardings. I believe they're building a new Metro stop in the vicinity.

The Colosseum was pretty much "in the way" until the 1930s when proper restoration and preservation began.
Yep, Mussolini was an utter bxstard who got what he was due in the end, but he did save a lot of ancient Rome, as he saw himself as a modern day Caesar. He also built one of (maybe the) first out of city business districts - EUR. I was there regularly in my General Motors days, utterly brutal and soul less (but probably nicer than the shack behind a supermarket that seems to house Opel Finance now, after the PSA takeover!)

My thoughts exactly, and some of it today is still pretty grim ,a lot of the locations I work to on the railway aren't nice places to hang around in.

West London Line in the '70s.... I work trains through here regularly and the new modern steel and glass station buildings are in total contrast to the weeds and graffiti that infest most of the route down to Clapham....

Looks like Olympia in the background.

Is it an MGB - the photo looks a little distorted/stretched at the edges which is making the car look oddly long.

What's the Japanese hatch between the Astra & Fiesta to the right of the main building?

Also on the left in front of the Land Rover - Lada or Fiat?
