I love Maserati and nearly bought a low mileage one back in the late 80s. As it happened I got a brand new Alfa 164 3.0 V6 Lusso. My that engine was glorious, sang like an Italian tenor! Red of course My first Italian was a 164 3.0 24V Lusso. Glorious engine indeed!
Didn't keep it long though as I sold it when I left the UK for a LHD country. But it was a wonderful car, and I keep looking at them now and then.
My second Italian over here is a Ghibli. Engine noise is a bit muted by the two turbos, but it's a cracker to drive round the local Alpine roads. You should take the plunge!

That xk150 is divine!
thanks - I happen to agree [unsurprisingly] - I wanted one for years - and much nicer looking than the drophead or open models - yet still, comparatively, undervalued -odd, thatI agree the fixed heads look better, but I do like the idea of a convertible.
Trying to get to try an XK120 OTS if work calms enough for me to get away for the day.
Love to hear more about how the 150 drives and is to live with compared to modern stuff.

I've got a very large desire for an XK Jag.

well, urm [ahem] I am lucky enough to already have a shed full of open cars - so the FHC is perfect for us ......I agree the fixed heads look better, but I do like the idea of a convertible.

To me (well used to a lifetime of all kinds of old vehicles) it drives extremely well - & motors no problem with/amongst modern traffic - and really STOPS well too.
However, it is a big old thing, especially if you are only used to light nimble moderns...
Some moan about the gearbox and get them changed to a modern 5-speed but, to me, that rather defeats the fun of an old classic and, in any case, it is a miles better 'box than some of the old 'junk' I drive (!).
The XK much prefers the open road and is super on motorways, for example.
- these views apply to the XK150, of course - the XK120 is rather different

Not personally ever owned, but as I see them:-Any views or experience of xk 120 or 140?
-- the 120:- widely regarded as the 'pure original':- very true, but not easy to drive, very cramped, and some consider them dangerous [to do with steering wheel, column + position]
-- the 140:- many regard it as the best compromise/all rounder XK:- but some dislike the heavy bumpers and they did still have drum brakes [although many are now upgraded to discs]. Very nice interiors, with real wood !
