Towards the end of this 'behind the scenes' look at the making of 'Steptoe & Son' from 1970 there's some nice footage of writers Galton & Simpson with their Bentley and Rolls Royce...

The '64 Rolls Royce S3 Silver Cloud 'BWF 224B' is still on the road.

E standing for economy apparently. Apparently built from left over Firenza body shells. (Until you posted I assumed it was a Firenza.....so had to Google it )
I had a red one on a P plate in 1988. I think I was just given it. They were decent cars really - but I drove this one to the scrapyard and got 50 quid after two months free motoring. Nice footage of traffic at Gallows Corner, Romford in 1968...

Thanks Nij - the year of my birth.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-uy3xHzdL0&t=...
Anyone significantly younger than me (of which there are many...) will likely be horrified by the lack of crash helmets, seat belts and the number of unrestrained children in front seats as well as back. But that's how it was then, I guess - and most of us survived.

We were free back then. All of these laws (which undoubtedly keep us safer) insidiously chip away at our freedom until one day without realising it, it will be gone. Smoking next but they're already gunning for sugar and meat. Alcohol has been under fire for years. More and more limitations on car use. We'll all be living long and very boring lives.Anyone significantly younger than me (of which there are many...) will likely be horrified by the lack of crash helmets, seat belts and the number of unrestrained children in front seats as well as back. Only if you carry on living in this dump. I'm now planning my exit and living somewhere nice for my later years. Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
