Looking at all this ADO16 goodness conjures up images of public information films where sheepskin coat wearing blokes called Reg tootle about in 1100s on a mixture of crossplys and radials...!
Interesting pic there, a VDP 1300 shown on a R-plate. "Do not publish until September 1977". (Which would also have been period for an S-reg.Was there a plan to continue sales of the VDP beyond 1974?
Also note this pic is of the "long booted" body. There appears to maybe have been some black highlighting done to the image.

Thought it might be interesting to revisit a few of the locations in the family photo collection.
Hopefully this is sufficiently within the spirit of the thread.
More to come in the fullness of time.

My Dad had a Zodiac in 1972 - CKE707K - but I don't remember it having wing mirrors or fogs, so maybe this fine example is an Executive?Hopefully this is sufficiently within the spirit of the thread.

Talking of wing mirrors - you'd need sharp vision (or binoculars) to see much in those far flung jobbies.
Great pics of then and now.
That does look like a Mk4 Zode Exec Freeleeta.
Slight diversion but, I've been reading the Harris racing book, does anyone have any pics of Rollerball early 70s V8 Mk4 Zode? I vaguely remember a Mk4 V8 on the custom mags of the day but so far haven't found any pics. Think it was a 302 or 351.
Sorry for diversion, this is a great thread for interesting old pics.

when I was a kid - I always wanted me dad to have one of these....
I even got the brochures and everything !...
..........but no, he didnt ...
and I was one cross kid when both my uncle AND the bloke across the road got one ..
.......the one over the road was registered GOX 717D.
I asked him one day:- ".. mister - wots it like to drive?... "
- & he said " it's like driving a billard table"...
It never struck me at the time, but I don't now know whether he was referring to the length of the bonnet or the handling qualities ....... maybe both?

My boss had one of those as a company car which I had to drive back from Heathrow once, as he wanted to read some papers en route, and I can agree with the billiard table comparison: length of (and shape of) bonnet, handling qualities and apparant weight!I asked him one day:- ".. mister - wots it like to drive?... "
- & he said " it's like driving a billard table"...

Market Place, Barnard Castle. The London-registered Cortina Mk1 threw me a bit, but the County Durham Viva helped.

Here's a period pic of my company Capri 2.0GL, about 1980 or 1981 somewhere near Basingstoke. I was a very young sales rep for Prince tennis rackets and the other sports trade road warriors were a little envious as they were mainly in Marina's and Cortina's. It replaced a Datsun 120Y Coupe and was my first nice car, although I now look back fondly on a MK2 Cortina that I had.
Wonder if KAR 109V is still on the road? Doubt it.
The tax ran out December 1985, so it was nicked or written off. Capris lasted about 10 - 15 years on average. Our T plate 3000S was last taxed in '94, and the 1976 2000S before that in 1989. I had a 2.0GL on a Y plate in 1996, a minter that I sold in 1997. It was a superb example of a bloody awful car - I absolutely hated it!

It didn't last long after I had it then. We traded it in at Hughes of Beaconsfield in '83 for another new Capri. The green car had been the bosses wife's before I had it and when it was time to change Hughes had a 1 yr old silver 2.0 S in the showroom and a white 1.6 LS brand new. The boss said I could have one or the other and I chose the 1.6 as I'd never had a new car before. Regretted it fairly quickly! I liked the Capri's, I was very young and they looked cool. Traded the white car (A649 KUD I IIRC) for a Toyota Corolla GTi Twin Cam 16 FWD which was a blast to drive. We also got that from Hughes who in that multi franchise age sold Toyota, Ford and Mercedes-Benz from the same dealership.
