I'm guessing this website is linked to the DVLA..?
Hence why I beleive it's a complete load of old bks!
My TVR 350I is not recognised, and searching for 'TVR Tasmin' (as per the logbook) brings a total way lower than I know thre to be.
Searching for 'Lamborghini Countach' brings "No matches found".
I wouldn't trust any of the information from this site.

The site does list 860 non specified Lamborghinis so I'm guessing thats where the Countachs, Espadas, Jalpas and Silhouettes are lurking - so try searching the marque only...Hence why I beleive it's a complete load of old bks!

However I'm glad to note that there appear to be no currently registered Alfa Romeo Arnas left!

If they can't identify 860 Lamborghinis, I wonder what else they can't identify!
It's less about what the DVLA can identify, and more about what the manufacturer/dealer could be arsed to put on the registration documents. If it's really old (which means its original registration records were bits of paper in a local authority office somewhere), or if it's an import (which means it mightn't have an 'official' model designation that matches it), then you're probably right to blame the DVLA, since there are some real gaps in their database for those models. Most other stuff it's down to who registered the car..

For all of you interested in data for specific years, I've just updated the website. If you go to the page for a specific make model (eg: Mustang GT), you'll now also get a breakdown of all cars on the road in 2010 by year of registration.
Enjoy!
The trouble with this data is that it is based on Q4 info only, presumably because only Q4 data is available prior to 2008 and the DVLA has stuck with that for their 'annual' figures. However, these figures are not representative as the highest number of taxed vehicles is usually mid-year, particularly for the classic cars that most folk here are interested in. My specific model has 40% fewer cars taxed in Q1 and Q4 compared to Q2 and Q3, for example. Enjoy!
While this info is not new to me, it is starting to be spouted by all and sundry and the headline figures being quoted are often misleading as a result.

You do realise the quarterly figures and full stats for SORNed cars are available on the site too? While this info is not new to me, it is starting to be spouted by all and sundry and the headline figures being quoted are often misleading as a result.
Yes I do but that wasn't my point. Your own headline figures for a particular model use Q4. It's misleading. I know exactly what info I am looking at, what is missing and the limitations of the system but when presented with the 'fact' that there were 61 cars taxed in 2010 when this only relates to Q4 and is 40% down on the year's high, you can see where I am coming from.

Like many I am surprised by the statistics. In 1991 we had 800 E-types at Donington and while numbers have risen according to the statistics there are 3,269 E-types in the UK, (2,651 on the road) and only exactly 500 roadsters of which 337 are on the road. Yet there were only 1,732 E-types in total in 1994 apparently, 52% of today's number. I would surely have thought there were more than that in the UK. I guess we'll get a straw poll at Silverstone in July when we are hoping for the biggest UK turnout of E-types ever, but even then I can't see more than 25% at most of those taxed turning up.
Interestingly, how on earth is there a 1959 E-type on the DVLA register? They were only made from April 1961!
