Nothing could be further from the truth. We each have various levels of ability, means, or commitment to actually to things like this, and it is far more satisfying to see a car being reborn than more discussions about 'Ring times for the McLaren P1 or the like. Please keep going. This is utter car porn for me. If I posted the engine bay of mine you'd see why! Mine drives like stink but isn't that pretty. Besides I need to point Mr Coco H in this direction and drop hints as I needwant mine resprayed in its original gunmetal gray colour.I don't like red.
My apologies people. I was feeling really down in the dumps and sorry for myself yesterday having heard of the death of a fourth friend in four months and he was the oldest at 62. I was only at his house last week discussing his Montreal and his Alpine 310 too. Thanks for your replies, and we shall keep the photos coming.
Out of interest, how is the shell being stripped? Not acid dip, surely, given some of the photos. Is it just being done with paintstripper?
I ask as I'm five years into an old Vauxhall, not having it dipped or blasted, and just like to hear what others are doing. I can see parts of mine where dipping would be better, parts where blasting would work best, parts where it wouldn't work at all, and have come to the conclusion to just keep picking away manually.

On the flat surfaces it was stripped manually with a heatgun and scraper. this is to avoid the panelwork being damaged. All the remaining fiddly joints and crevices were sand blasted...I ask as I'm five years into an old Vauxhall, not having it dipped or blasted, and just like to hear what others are doing.
