Taken by a friends Dad in London in 1968 when NMR85G was new. If anyone knows the owner now, the car looks to be still about, happy to pass on high res versions.
My first car had the reg NMR954G.

Very ropey red Morris Mini estate (no timber).

That Lotus is about as cool as it gets. The Mini, less so.

I had to call on a house to drop some documents last week; next door was a "cough, cough" scrap heap of a drive way and that's being polite!

Nonetheless, my inquisitive eye cast over the fence to alight upon a 1965 FHC Elan, half covered in a tarpaulin, with it's derrière sticking out and jacked up on all four knock on wheels- as derelict as it's possible to describe, and with a come here eyes with ££££ ! laugh

My son has just finished rebuilding our own (his now) '66 Elan and I thought that all the barn finds had long since gone. Perhaps they have and now they're driveway finds smile

Overheating still a problem even as recently as 1976 (albeit during the heatwave). Even the Jag has all the windows open - no aircon! Approach to Heathrow.

Instant childhood flashback - I remember those BA double deckers with their little trailers whizzing past the end of my Nan's road in Hammersmith along the A4(M) on their way to Heathrow.

What road did your nan live in, you mentioned Colet Gardens in the 'Was London dirty' thread. My gran lived in No1 Shortlands...

No, an early attempt at a Smart Motorway and the cars on the grass have simply 'gone left', in anticipation of a yet-to-be-screened naff Highways advert smile
(I remember those buses/trailers as well, and have that picture somewhere)

Cromwell Avenue, just off the Chiswick end of King Street, my uncle still lives there. At the end of the road there's a pathway that leads under the A4(M) and comes out in Furnival Gardens wink

Know it well. My dad and 4 uncles all grew up in Shortlands. Mum and Dad got married in Hammersmith town hall and Dad and my uncle's favourite pub was the Doves. beer

What has changed, cooling wise, since then? Is it just electric fans or do cars have bigger radiators or more efficient engines?

Is that some sort of 30's sportscar broken down on the hard shoulder on the right with a couple of guys looking at it.........looks like its got cycle type wings on it, and its not a Seven? Could be a kit car/replica I suppose, even in '76.

Photo was taken from the Sipson Rd bridge. Looks very different today with the tree growth alongside the spur road in the past 45 years.

Oversized 11.3 Litre AEC engine, geared for 70mph.

That’s my kind of double decker.

There's two of them, slightly different cars because the windscreen shapes are different. It could be a 1930s car, the brake drums look sizable, the headlamps look like genuine Lucas P100s and the radiator is set well behind the axle line. Tell-tale signs of kit cars, especially in the '70s were: MGB front suspension and disc brakes, 7" sealed beam headlamps and the rad perched up-front instead of set well back. I can't say what it is though.

Wow!!, three Renault 16's & a Simca 1501S. Two of my Dad's car list from the mid 60's, early 70's :-)

I was going to say Talbot - and possibly identify three of the people but not sure.
