I think that's an Arabic script rather than Japanese.

I suppose they've just been imported from somewhere warm.

Must be a thing to drive a car over from Kuwait with white writing across your rear spoiler.

A translation from my man in Jeddah:

Red car – "It is a sentence of Arabic poetry with meaning as: appraising the (present) ruler of Kuwait for his kindness to people of Kuwait and others wish to have someone similar to him." (It probably doesn't translate any more directly.)

Green car – "Large font states: Enough! (unable to read the other sentence)."

Haha, I suddenly thought of tax checker after I posted and went back to edit and you'd beaten me to it.

Dear God that looks all out of proportion. Seeing that and not knowing that it is a Talbot, I'd have though it was some awful kit car cobbled together in someone's garden shed.

I saw a Cobra Daytona in Budleigh Salterton yesterday. I've no idea if it was genuine or a replica but it sounded good and smelt authentic.

I think it is probably an AM90 Speed Model with an ugly body.

Various bodies were put on these cars from elegant cabriolets and coupés to stripped down race cars.
Typical for Talbots of this period is the old-fashioned (even then) high scuttle and low windscreen.

Here's a 1931 Talbot AM90 with Brooklands & Ards TT race history:

Given they only made 6 and none of them permanently reside in the UK.......

I can 99.9% guarantee it was a replica (or possibly, but unlikely, one of the 50 'continuation' cars made by Shelby to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Daytona Coupe)

I must admit that my first reaction was that it was a home built special.

Popular style in period, known as a "beetle back". Looks like a fabric body built on the Weymann principle.

Thanks for the info. If I see it again I'll try get a closer look for clues as to what it might be based on.

The Uk agent for Factory Five Racing sold their demonstrator to someone down that way - it could have been that - Rod Leach also used to Market the Shelby ( SuperPerformance ) Daytona ( see Here ) in the UK and Bill Shepard (Mustang) are now the agents who sell the standard and 50th Anniversary models (if there are any left).
