My K reg hard dash LSE had the air suspension - never had a moment's issue with it
The issue with mine was a mismatched pulley off the Chevy engine that triggered a fault over 100mph. NomduJour said:
Has anyone changed coolant hoses on a later Classic?
Found that the original heater hoses are of a larger diameter than the replacements - no alternative part numbers and have tried hoses from Bearmach, Allmakes, and (cough) Britpart, all of which are too small.
They probably all originate from the same source. Could it be the usual thing that you're buying Disco parts? Sometimes I think all these firms use the same database and once an error finds its way in somewhere it infects all the suppliers. What's the engine on yours? Is it a 4.2? Could they have fitted larger hoses at the end?

The supplier ordered some from another place to compare and they’re smaller than the originals too. It is a 4.2, but the part numbers are all the same for the V8s (and it would be an odd thing to change).
Are the new ones 32mm and your old ones 38mm? 1 1/4 inch v 1 1/2?It's an odd one as it suggests two different heater units in the 90s. I could understand a soft dash possibly having a different unit and there were some quirks with the last hard dashes as they loaded them to the gunwales with stuff.
83/4 and 87/8 were change over years when some odd things happened as well.
What years is yours?

Seem to remember the majority of classics at the time were Plymouth blue or Ardennes green
Ardennes, Epsom, Cyprus seemed very popular in the 90s. I recall them all starting to appear in London from about G reg onwards whereas the 80s boom colour seemed to be the blues?Probably quite regional.
My father always said that it was the Howard's Way effect in the 80s that everyone in London wanted to give the impression of owning a yakt but by the 90s it was the royal effect and everyone wanted to give the impression they owned a country estate.

Howard’s Way, that’s a huge throwback!
I think Plymouth is darker than Caspian. Many years ago I had an 1989 Alaskan Blue 3.5 Vogue which was a fairly unusual colour
Interestingly, I do have on excellent and unquestionable authority that this spec was singularly the preserve of true champions. I think Plymouth is darker than Caspian. Many years ago I had an 1989 Alaskan Blue 3.5 Vogue which was a fairly unusual colour

Thanks for the response paintman. I just read an old post of you in this very thread about you always keeping a spare ECU in the car
How is the whine of the transfer box (i wrote differential in my previous post) on a longer journey?
I’m not bothered about the lack in performance between the 3.5 and the 3.9. But I’d value some refinement. The only RRC I have driven so far, was a 4.2 LSE that was properly shagged. And this was not on the motorway.
I’d might be looking at the Overfinchs secondary door seals to improve wind noise. I do realise these are classic cars, but I wonder wether I could live with a 3.5, or if I’d be more happy with a 3.9 that has ABS.
Good inputs regarding the advert. I have figured out that the DL designation, as well as the standard/optional equipment is implemented on autoscout24 (largest swiss autotrader type site).
An other slight detail: shouldn’t the 3-spoke wheels be either colour coded or come in a dark anthracite?

Step 2: Don't worry about which engine or transfer box. Neither matter if they're not attached to any remaining metal.

Hi, my 91 has silver flat lettering. Can take pics if helpful. I highly doubt they are original but they are how they should be I think
On another subject has anyone changed their headlights to something with more power than a candle? I don’t want anything too ‘Halfords’ but coming back from NYD’s lunch and I couldn’t see anything on dip - comically bad and I’m sure worse cos daily has proper headlights.
Cheers
Lots of options for better lamps from those for the Defender. I went for the youngest type before they went blingy with the glass design and they're a definite improvement. I have lists of the various colour/trim options but I can't see any reference to the colour of stripes/decals.
It does state that the VOGUE SE (all upper case) decal changed to Vogue SE (upper & lower case) in December 1991.
The switch over dates for trim bits on Rangies can be really wishy washy and I've always taken the view that if the car was either side by a year there would generally be no one who could tell you definitively that I was wrong and that I should opt for what I personally wanted. Probably worth visiting www.range-rover-classic.com and looking at the images for each year either side to get some clues.
I'm pretty sure the slam panel was black until G or H reg but even then it could have been spec related with basic models remaining black? Mind you my 1990 commercial import was all white.
My 1989 standard Vogue was black and I had a gold K reg Vogue that I think was colour coded.

Hi can anyone help. I have a two door 1982 registered RR - it is 1980 car but apparently sat unregistered in a dealers for two years. I am tidying up the under bonnet. The old sound deadening was falling off and I have purchased a new part. There are two stays to hold the sound deadening on but the old piece was clearly glued as well. I know this as a moral certainty as I have spent the last three weekends cleaning off the old glue and mess with white spirit.
Do I need to glue the new piece too? I think I do but all of the suppliers I have spoken to can’t say for certain. The two stays are at the front of the bonnet only and don’t look capable of holding the whole sound deadening piece once it is upside down and being bounced around over the engine. If it does need to be glued what glue capable of withstanding under bonnet heat would anyone recommend. Thanks in advance of any help.
Is it the repo sound deadening pad that's for sale on eBay?Do I need to glue the new piece too? I think I do but all of the suppliers I have spoken to can’t say for certain. If it is it's for the later cars which did just need the two corner bars.
I think what stopped the later ones from needing glueing was that the sound deadening pad was rigid so once dropped in at the back and held at the front by the two bars is was fine.
I think the early ones were more flexible but I also seem to recall that the underside structural bracing of the bonnet itself changed at one of the update points in the 80s. I would imagine at the time the girls he's became hidden?
Does the pad fit? Does it locate at the rear and is it held well by the front bars?

I'm a bit worried DA has been possessed by a demon, or has been using too many Bilt Hamber products in an enclosed space.Fret not! I'm merely struggling to come to terms with Steve Jobs auto correct meeting my need for reading glasses.
I had to go back to work out what on Earth that insane jibberish was meant to be.
It was supposed to be: around the time the bonnet hinges became hidden.
