1.3HL in Zircon Blue (late colour that was, surprised to see it on an X reg) with a vinyl roof.

Zircon...? Rover's version of zircon blue as used on P5s and P6s was much darker, almost turquoise.

I didn't know the name was used earlier, but the Zircon used on most ARG in the early/mid eighties was quite light, the darker metallic blue was Moonraker. I'm certain the Ital is Zircon but I'd always thought it came in around 83 on the Ital when SL/SLX replaced HL/HLS.

Rover's Zircon was used on P6s from about 1964, not sure when it was phased out on these in favour of Scarab Blue, they also used it on P5B saloons and Coupes from '67 to '73. In some photos it looks oddly pale but here's my (now gone sadly) '70 Coupe in monotone Zircon...

They must have kept the name. I had an Ital 1.7 SLX in Zircon Blue, nothing like the earlier colour.

What a sad bunch we are smile

The blue was called Atlantis for the final couple of years of the P6 models in 76/77.

Berlin, 1977...

In those days, there wasn't such city as Berlin. West Berlin perhaps. Or East, which is highly unlikely for this photo to take place in for that matter.
Back in pre-unified Germany, East Berlin registered cars would have an "I" prefix while cars registered in West Berlin would have the style they still have today with a "B" like the Lambo. So nothing suggests that that photo isn't indeed West Berlin in '77.

I'd forgotten all about that name! The very last P6 off the line was an Avocado Green 3500S, it was at Gaydon for years but now belongs to a club member who also owns a couple of P6 Estoura estates.

The 14th from last built (a white 3500) is currently up for sale in the Channel Islands.
