When you look at that list, the 944 stands out as very undervalued nowadays. Never had one but my Dad test drove an S2 when they were brand new and it was impressively quick. I was sat in the back and remember banging my head against the roof when he gave it the beans.
Got to agree. They are very cheap and the drive is superb, they are so well-balanced. Prices are creeping up for the good ones but that doesn’t concern me as mine will never be worth a lot. sometimes you see those used for a V8 swap when the old engine goes.
but... personally I still do not feel a lot attraction to a 944, ok more the to a 924 (owned one long long time ago, a trade in car) and sometimes (also long time ago) I looked at some 944, but... could not feel enough to buy one, maybe if you changed some things to make them more sporty, less GT like bucket seats, sporty steering-wheel and some nice (aftermarket) wheels to give them a second chance? hm, maybe, they are not to heavy and not a bad classic, could be a daily classic, in a year the first series (1982) become road tax free in NL.
not bad >>

A big fan of the idea of the older 911, ove the shape and simplicity, never enjoyed the (short) drives in them.Wasn't so much a fan of the 944 as it wasn't a "real Porsche" but have warmed to them over the years.
Went to look at a 944 cab some years back when looking for 4 seats but my son wasn't in favour of leg amputation.
Could be really tempted now though, that colour or the lighter blue cabrio. As above, timeless design. Have heard they aren't as quick as they appear but there again I'm not as quick as I think I am....

The 944 has to be one of THE performance bargains of the moment - when a Sierra 1.8 LX goes for 10 grand on eBay, to think you can get a bona fide rear drive sports car with Porsche provenance for the same money beggars belief!
Anyway, here are a few from my run the other morning
Anyone familiar with our friend at Palace Motors in Crouch End will recognise the black 900 which has been there for ages. The red lhd US spec is a more recent arrival
EDIT: Actually, I'm doing this a disservice - I've checked the MOT history and it hasn't had so much as an advisory in 6 years (as well as not having covered any miles) so maybe a quick wash 'n vac and it'll be on the forecourt?

Dapster, I have being saying this for ages about Mk1 Escorts and the like fetching £65k+ - there is no sense in the market sometimes...that is why I sold and purchased a Porsche 911 997 (2005).Edited by Dapster on Monday 29th March 16:54
