Original uk number wink
[starts pedantry] in a lot of states the car doesn’t keep its original plate when it’s sold, it’s destroyed or transfers to your new car, so unless it’s a genuine one owner car it wouldn’t keep its original number [/pedentary]

Hmmm, not sure.... I thought it replaced the 4 in '67 didn't it...? Happy to be corrected.

Yes, it is a TR4A.

You can tell by the 4A's front wing chrome trim which incorporated the side light at the front and the smaller stubbier front bumper over-rider.

Maybe it’s because the badge spelling it out is only inches away from the plate?
You won't like SP 250, then? It is on a Daimler Dart!

That picture confused me a lot. My Dad's house looks almost exactly like that and he has just had his driveway done.

TR 4 is on a green TR4.
I remember seeing it years ago and the plate and car still seem to be together.

You won't like mine then. Very early TR4 , 1961. Chassis 1123. Things got messed around with over the years!

I didn't say I didn't like it, just saying how to differentiate them. Having had TRs for 27 years I know that in the1980s some parts were in short supply and you had to use what you could.

Yours looks as though it has a TR5 grill.

That's all I was going on, I don't know about the dates.

And 300SL used to be on a Mercedes 300 SL, haven't checked if it still is.

I wouldn't be surprised if it had a five grille. It is a bitsa. I think it actually has a TR4A body. It should have a short bulge bonnet and all sorts of early stuff, which it doesn't! Still, it was priced accordingly. It definitely has a 4 chassis. It's also very loud despite having a twin box system on. Anyway it is scruffy enough that I don't have to be precious about leaving it anywhere!

That looks fantastic, I have a penchant for painted wires. Back in the early '70s there was often a black Mk2 Jag with matching wire wheels parked near my Nan's flat in Hammersmith, next to the Hampshire Hogg pub on the corner which had, shall we say, 'a bit of a reputation'... as much as it's become a cliché, that particular Mk2 summed up everything I liked about the breed. If I ever get a Mk2 it will have painted wires... hehe

Today's classic spot from me - working a freight train down near Bedford this morning I noticed something unusual in the back garden of a house which sits between the railway line and adjacent A6, it looked like the rear end of a fibreglass Ford GT40 replica body. Worth further investigation /confirmation methinks!
