google fu shows me a later, 42 to 46 Ford frame

bit in between the two back wheels also looks like that era of ford diff, so I'm going for some kind of pre 50s flathead Ford

Also an early Sierra, been sat for a very long time, now a spares car for a oval race
Car.

Unusual two -tone -even rarer on such a early car - and that naff (but cool) colour - verrrry rare

1984 Pontiac, with a 2.6 litre engine. Must be an import, as it was first registered in UK in 1991 wink

Thanks for that, I did wonder if it was not what it seemed.

So how did they do that? Would a Pontiac not have the engine up front and squeezed under the bonnet or is it repositioned?

The Fiero is mid-engined I think?

ETA It is mid-engined, a choice of 2.5 four pot or a 2.8 V6.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_Fiero - the Fiero was mid engined, a bit of an MR2 wannabee.

Possibly ex-RAF/Army car? I don't think they became 'registered' with DVLA in the 60's/70's until they were up for disposal, as they were issued with military plates. These days I think that 'white fleet' cars are almost all leased and therefore DVLA registered from new, and that 'green fleet' get age related pates in place of the military VRN when they are disposed of (sold) into civilian life.
Indeed, it wasn't until the mid 80s that DVLA started issuing 'age related' plates for re-registrations, using unused blocks of 'correct' plates.
Unfortunately while there may not be many minors in crappies, this thread shows plenty still rotting - although more and more come back from the dead each year (other than Travellers, which generally still cost more to fixc than they will ever be worth due to the structural wood).

I think that's one of the more surprising ones in this whole thread.

Except the centre of the cross looks different. Also, do the (intentionally) holed inner longitudinal members join the outer rails in a Ford, or do they run parallel to the outer members without touching them? (It's impossible to see on an exploded drawing).
