OK thanks for that. I should have put a bit of thought into it first
No prob, made me do a bit more research: I wonder if that's one of the Mera cars mentioned,
http://www.fiero.net/mera/article.html - in which case, probably rarer than a real 308...

There should be a law against Fierraris, LaMR2nis and the like. Crush 'em all!

google fu shows me a later, 42 to 46 Ford frame

bit in between the two back wheels also looks like that era of ford diff, so I'm going for some kind of pre 50s flathead Ford

+1. That's what PH is all about. I was about to post a comment saying how no-one will ever id that one, when....teacher
Except the centre of the cross looks different. Also, do the (intentionally) holed inner longitudinal members join the outer rails in a Ford, or do they run parallel to the outer members without touching them? (It's impossible to see on an exploded drawing).
I'm not saying it's that exact model, mid 40s american Ford, but all of the Ford chassis from the Model A onwards look similar and are clearly developments of each other - and they look just like that one.
they were simple and obviously very common and may well have been copied by other companies

here's a plastic model of a 48 chassis

and another real one, showing the axle too

Spotted these today whilst out walking near to Mapperley Village, Ilkeston. Suppose they would have been quite prestigious in their day.

Its in West Yorks - worth some more investigating - I might give a door knock and enquire next time I'm passing.
