Just on my recollections of the time - I was a classic car fan back then. If you look through classic car magazines from the 1980s, articles written on cars made in the 'seventies are not rare - people wanted to read about them in classic car magazines because they had become classics. Indeed, it is not hard to find magazines where the main article is written on a car or cars from the 'seventies. There are loads of them on Ebay - you can look through the contents on a lot of the listings.
Fair point and QED as the Romans would say ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

Registered 1992 so not sure if classic or not but almost everyone had one or a mate had one and wrote it off in their youth haha
She is 25 on the 18th August this year <3

I was offered one of these AX GTI's for much cheapness from a workmate who was moving abroad years ago and it drove really well, but I turned it down purely as I need to drive for my job and I preferred to keep my licence! If your a fan of the original hot hatches (who isn't?) this fits the bill perfectly. Minted 80's and 90's cars are the dealers favourites right now. That's just going to appreciate exponentially!

Back in the 1980s, plenty of 'Seventies cars were already being courted as classics.
Really? Willing to be educated but not sure about that. What do you base this on?At the end of MG and Spitfire production in early 80s they were being touted as classics right off the showroom floor, same as the Capri in 1987.

[/quote]Very much out of interest, what do you think this is worth?

TBH I really don't know. It's not an RS/Mexico etc so won't fetch the serious money that these models can attract. It's running a modified Rover V8/5-speed/LSD so will only appeal to those who want something a bit different, and there's nothing currently comparable or recently sold on eBay. So far, all I've had are time wasters and test pilot wannabes
