Maybe a bit of a cheat as I went to a Classic Car meet in Surrey yesterday.

Loads of interesting classics but this Maserati Indy really stood out - I don't think I have seen one since my Dad took me to Earls Court every year when I was a nipper.

I think that Indy has been spotted on here before. It has its own Instagram:

There's more than a whiff of Espada about that.

It's lovely.
Looks nothing like an Espada.

Reminds me of one at the rear. Not the front obviously.

the 560 was only ever sold in the US in lhd and Japan and Aus as RHD. The emission strangled 500 was so down on power that Mercedes supplied the US market SL with the 5.6 engine but it too was down on power on the non strangled Eur spec 500. I think the Japan and Aus spec 560 were also strangled so despite being the top dog in terms of engine size, it was a lazier performer than the Euro 500.

The 500sl and the 450 with 5.0 engine seem to be more powerful or so I've also read, also more 'rare' ?
or were it only the 450 (5.0) and 500 SLC sort of special for rally with some alu parts and little rear spoiler.

Ah, didn’t know that - always thought the 560 was global. Anyway, a little nosing this end suggests that the local spec 560 put out almost as much power as the 500 - 245’ish bhp. And I’ve also seen the Japan-spec as being 239bhp, where as the US seems to have got about 227bhp.

But, let’s face it, these aren’t cars for tearing up the Tarmac anyway. I’d quite happily cruise around in one with any engine, just as long as it wasn’t white and I had something a little livelier in the garage as well smile

I *think* I see what you did there and by strange coincidence it was passing the hospital when I spotted it wink

For anyone not following this morning's meanderings, DNR stands for Do Not Resuscitate.

Handsome 500SEC in very good nick spotted in London last week. I have a feeling I may have posted this before, last time I was working in that part of town a few years ago, but it's still a cool classic car spotted so you can have it again.

Market Drayton this morning (presumably in for an MOT)

Edited to add that (being nosy) I looked this up on the MOT checker and it was MOT’d in February but at that time it had 321,000 miles!
