Is that a Ford Executive in the top picture? I didn’t realize they were still making them in 1971 or 1972.Solicitor friend of my parents had one in the late 60s when having an 8 track was a novelty along with IIRC an electric sunroof.

It could just be a Zodiac. Built until '72, I think.Solicitor friend of my parents had one in the late 60s when having an 8 track was a novelty along with IIRC an electric sunroof.

There's a Renault 14 on the left, behind the ADO Estate, so 1976+. My guess is 1977, due to the bunting (Silver Jubilee?).(So it had fifteen good years).
NB: In contrast, My 80’s Acclaim & MG Maestro didn’t even last that long.

Is that the Mayor's car? Flag on the bonnet and a coat of arms on the roof?green911 said:
Isn't the brown one an Alfetta GTV?
Looks like a GTV and it's about to pass a parked blue Alfasud that's probably the same one as in the other picDoofus said:
There's an Alfasud in the left hand picture too. A brown one.

Also, the grille looks a bit odd. Normally it’s slatted. Radiator blind for winter weather?
Isn't it a dummy grille on those ? The spare wheel is at the front of the engine bay, and there's a grille below the bumper. The Zephyr versions had painted metal between the headlights.Edited by Escort3500 on Monday 16th May 08:01

Agree must be a Zodiac with a radiator blind rather than a Zephyr which featured the Corvair-style no-grille approach. Was that under bumper air inlet enough to cool the engine - I guess so. These were proper barges - 6.4 turns of the wheel to go from lock to lock.
This one reminds me a bit of the Tatra 623 (non) safety car :

I was reading about him the other day, he was a Japanese F1 driver who grabbed a fire extinguisher to help the Marshal’s put out a fire on his car... & got knocked over in the process. ( I’m sure that he was unhurt though...only his pride was dented)
