Walking along a private golf course road I saw this.
The owner was out of shot, letting his dog out for a pee.
Those 2 mk2s are really lovely - I preferred the 5 door. The proportions were better in my eyes. When VW built the 70 examples of the special edition G60 Limited they used the 5 door shell as it was stiffer (and oddly, small bumpers even though it was launched a year into big bumper build). The owner was out of shot, letting his dog out for a pee.

The SL was the flagship model so there were inevitably quite a few 500 shifted as buyers would gravitate to the top model. There were approx 3 x the number of 280 and 300 sold in the model lifetime than 500 (the 300 replaced the 280, the 500 was there for the whole stint). There were about 12k 500 sold, 38k 280/300. The real unicorn was the 420 with 300 performance and 500 fuel bills. Fewer than 3k sold worldwide.
Where would the 350 fit in to this? I’d have thought that it may have been the most popular R107.280 25,400
300 13,700
350 15,300
380 53,200
420 2,100
450 66,300
500 12,000
560 50,000
Total 240,000

Interesting, not seen one before. Looking it up, there was a van version of the Herald, the Courier and Wiki's photo looks very similar But the Courier was only made for a short time, this is later and registered as a Vitesse, with only 39k in 2018 too.
Not sure about the one next to it, convertible with hardtop?

Very nice though, and a lovely pairing with that Sprite caravan.
BTW, The blue car is an Equipe GT4s.
