My TR6 back in 1990 ish, it was an ex usa one on carbs. I had it tuned once on a rolling road and the guy said it had about 180 bhp at the rear wheels. I'm not so sure but the back end loved to snap away in the wet.Next door neighbour was into classics too and you can just see the tops of an Austin 8 and a Merc 200T estate.

Triple Webers though, not the usual pair of Strombergs you find on US cars.

Nice pics S M, which did you have first? The 309 or XR4? Certainly two different drives!
I always liked the XR4i's- thought the extra pillar at the back and rear spoiler stood them out well.

[quote=Bebee]A good friend of mine who I have know since 1985 and who is 20 years my senior, started a motor repair business with his neighbour and best friend (the chap 1st from the left on the bikes) in 1974. They worked from the back of my business premises, he retired in 2005 then came and worked with me part time, I bought his business premises since and still keep in touch even though he has now completely retired, he often regaled tales of car ownership, etype, Ferrari, Jensen, Morgan, Jags, he's had the lot!
Anyway, he gave me some pics from his past containing cars and bikes, a Sutton Coldfield man born and bred.
I'll post a few more up as and when.

The Healey (744 GON) is still about, though a colour change took place at some point.

Nice pictures, not just the Healey but the Matchless is also still about! I did a DVLA check just to be nosey and looks like its still on the road.
Think the model is a G12.

Here's a picture of a 1958 G11 that my dad bought in 63, strangely enough this ones still about too!

That ribbed valve cover looks like the ones SAH used to sell, which would explain the triple Webers as well.

I think 180hp at the flywheel is more likely, not at the wheels, as that would be over 200 at the flywheel, and I can't ever recall any Triumph Six giving those figures?
I remember triple Weber SAH tuned 2.5's having around 180hp.

.
I seem to recall that the SAH valves covers had the SAH insignia on them or later the Triumphtune logo?

I think the grille marks it out as an Anglia. Not certain though.

I think 180 at the flywheel is even optimistic, I have probably misremembered it,it was over 25 years ago! It had been prepared for track racing with a catch tank and uprated brakes. It was very lumpy under 3000 rpm so it probably had an uprated camshaft. I think it still had the standard exhaust manifold, but the exhaust was very noisy. It popped and banged on the over run. It would probably get an asbo nowadays. Looking at the mot history it seems to be sorned with an increasing list of advisories over the years.

I had the 309 first - ran it for around 4 years but had the chance to buy the XR4i cheap and it was a very solid example so bought it. Ran them together for about a year but it was the XR4i that stayed on - just needed slightly firmer springs ( one offs by Leda ) and better dampers

Moving a few years on but still in the last millenium.......

Nice,a TR5. I bet you wish you still had it. I'd love one but I've missed the boat price wise. I suppose you could get more cones in with the roof down!

Well, urm, as a matter of fact.. I do have a '5 currently [but not the one in the picture].

Prices achieved are often no-where near the Asking/Advertised price by the way ....

Almond green/Old English white Morris Mini Cooper mark 1, almost certainly a 998 as last 997's were late 1963/very early 64. BHK is Essex.

Plus reversing lights and alloy spats/wider wheels.

This one didn't make it - sad to think they were just worthless back then.
