Not intentionally antigonising folk but here's another pic of the BX.

I popped round to see if the owners had any plans to sell the car on behalf of a fellow PH'er. They weren't in...

Can has a factory sunroof and cloth interior (not sure why but I'd expected leather). Their was also a spare bonnet on the back seat. At a glance, the top side of the car looks to be in great shape. As has been suggested on previous pages, it's likely underneath that trouble lurks...

Thanks. Appreciate you taking the time to do that.

I think I might be out though. The MOT history of corrosion and wiring problems scare me off.
BB73, have you tried calling again? I'm willing to try if you haven't.
Hi FB. Have been chatting to the owner on behalf of a fellow PH'er. If this doesn't work out, I will let you know asap...

One of the C&SC writers is heavily into Citroens so not really surprising.
They are? Who's that then?
David Evans. He's just rebuilt his GSA.
Ah yes, I remember now.

But of course, I had an "a" reg White BX, this was almost gifted so I said thanks very much. It broke down 3 times, central locking lacked up, doors were rusty on the bottom, the trim was very worn at 60,000 miles, the suspension spheres packed up, it cost me a fortune in 6 months. I quickly got rid of it. Therefore I think it's a st car, burn them all, pieces of fking wking junk
That's great logic.

Indeed - "given" car that someone else wants rid of, then surprised when it's totally fecked, hence they're obviously all sh!t, in spite of thousands of people with the opposite experience...rolleyes

It's actually a '74 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Convertible!

And it is huge!

The owner has some great stories about it and it would actually be for sale, but only if the price was right!

It is complete and has the proper wheels and trims in the lockup, but how do you put a value on that?
As a guide, here's a nice restored Olds 88 convertible, similar age, which shares the same GM platform as the Caprice. £12500 auction estimate

The consistant slagging off of the Citroen BX in this thread is getting boring guys, for sure its not everyones cuppa tea, but then Morris minors and MGB's, or rusty German tintops like VW, BMW or Merc's ain't exactly what i'd call classic cars either, but clearly 1000's of others think they aresmile
Each to his own - but please respect others ideas of what they consisder a classicthumbup

Given the recent chat about the £30k 205 I thought it'd be appropriate to post this:

L Reg, so must be one of the last lot.

This was also lurking near by, although given how anal some people have been about "classics" I may get chased out for this one:

Funny you should mention that.

The 205 has the same basic running gear as the dreaded Citroen BX.

One is loved/cherished, the other hated!

Well, IIRC the 205 1.9 GTi is based on the 8v (~128PS) rather than the 16v (~160PS) and of course doesn't have the wonderful (or hated depending on if it's working or not) BX suspension. Still, the BX19 GTi (8v) was no slouch so I bet the lighter still 205 GTi would have flown.

Not again, please, we've just had this debate. If we have it again there could be blood shed this time.

It's Sorrento Green. I had one a long time ago. rego was J952WWN

I think there were 300 made. some with the body kit with the hideous rear spoiler (which mine had)

Also have the green and black seats and carpet from memory. Made a nice change from red!
