The MK1 Facelift 3.0 GXL Capri is one of my all time favourite cars. Such a good looking and desirable car and IMO the best looking Capri ever.

My preference would be Daytona Yellow or Metallic Blue. The Java Green and Velvet Purple were also great.
Totally agree the RS3100 improving those good looks further still

Yes, I'd agree with you both!

Although Ford did offer a couple of great colour options on the 3000E.

The Modena Green RS2000 (NOO 922M) in the background is still being used in historic racing today (well its number plate is wink) and has been seen in recent years racing at the Goodwood MM.

It was 3rd in a sequence of consecutive RS2000 reg numbers used by Ford (NOO 920M and NOO 921M) were both featured on the front covers of the two AVO RS2000 sales brochures. 920M was a white/blue car and 921M was a blue/blue car.
That’s interesting, sure I have seen this film before, think it’s the 74 Avon Tour.
Have you an RS sales brochure ?
Still looking for a Haynes RS screen decal photo.

This GXL survived until 84.
Thanks for posting this. I then went and purchased it on eBay.

It brings back a lot of memories, I remember my dad have this copy ( he owned a GXL for years ).

I also remember the tyre advert on the back cover, I remember it being very popular at the time.

Seeing the caravan reference on the magazine brings back memories as a child of 3.0GXL’s towing rather large caravans. I bet they made a great tow car.

I don’t recall seeing this shot a Broadspeed Bullit before.
This must be one of the first 3 Litre Bullits built.

BNX 743J , appeared in a feature in Motor Sport and this car was likely the first 3 Litre car built.

Where were Broadspeed located at the time?

As AWD and BNX were both Warwickshire reg numbers.

I assume you mean first 3 litre car built by Broadspeed, rather than first 3 litre Capri built by Ford?

Southam, just off the Banbury Road, when they moved out one of the buildings was occupied by Southam Mini & Metro Centre....

My Dad worked on Littlebrooke power station and had a static caravan on a CEGB site at Kingsnorth power station.

It was the slant fronted type with a balcony if anyone is up on their ‘70s caravans.

Anyway, the CEGB closed the one site and he had to move to the other, which was the other side of the main road.

He hitched it up and towed it across in his GXL Capri.

So yes, they could definitely tow a caravan.

This June 71 3000E is currently for sale.
It would have been a wheezy 128hp originally with the awful Zodiac gear ratios.
Advert says it’s a 3.4 litre now.
Personally I think the colour is dire and does it no justice and likewise those Rostyles that the pre circa Sept 71 cars were fitted with.

Cortina Rostyles not Capri (less dish) and being on a K 71/72 may have the later 3 rail box and 138BHP motor wink agree though the car looks wrong thumbup
