Classics left to die/rotting pics - Vol 2
Discussion
To me there seems to be a lot of snobbery around old cars.
It comes across as people who have popular cars can't stand it when a less popular car starts getting put into the same class as their old cars, or when cars they don't deem to be worthy of anything start becoming valuable, and out pricing their established favourite.
I've seen people ask to be moved when a car they don't like is parked next to them at a show!
Each generation is incredulous that the cars of the near past are taken to car shows. My late father called anything post war a 'modern', I myself find it very strange that the youngsters in the local retro club get all exited by Montegos, Mk4 Escorts and Austin Princesses! It just the way it is, it always has been, and it always will. Unless you have a defined era set for the age of the car like vintage or veteran, the debate will go on for ever and no one will be satisfied.
Regarding the BX debate, surely in modern parlance it's not a classic it's Retro!

Just to annoy people I don't think that Ferrari is rotten / left to die, (it's MOT'd after all) and it's not a classic as it's not old enough.......
- The MOT expired 19th April 2015! The tyres are cracked and perished, the windows have been taped up, the door mirrors have been completely and badly bodged, there's green mould all over the place on it and it blatantly hasn't been moved in ages!
I'd say that pretty much qualifies as being rotten/left to die!
As for it "Not being old enough" to be a classic - According to Wiki (From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_car ):
A classic car is an older automobile; the exact definition varies around the world.
The common theme is of an older car with enough historical interest to be collectable and worth preserving or restoring rather than scrapping.
I'd say that based on that definition, the 456 definitely qualifies as a classic car!
Time to get back on topic?
Followed a hot tip for this.
'87 500 SEC last MOT'd in 2010 with only 33600 miles covered from new!
Parked in an open barn since then, with the best of British weather getting to it.
Started and ran, but bitterly disappointed as it has rust in inner arches, doors, wings, front panel etc so would need a fortune spending on bodywork

Just back from a couple of weeks holiday in Rhodes where I spotted these two;
70's type 2 panel van, looked in reasonably good nick but clearly not been used for years - couldn't get to it because it was sat in a garden 8 ft above the road!
And then this sat in the open, looked fairly solid from a distance - couldn't get any closer as there was a very bad tempered woofer in the garden! Again, looked as if it had not been used in a long time.
