MK1 3 Litre Capris, How Many Survive ?

I personally prefer the 69 - 72 cars, as they are the purest and the ones that I grew up around.
The dash however, is way better on the Face Lift car.
I prefer the earlier dash's smaller dials but prefer the face-lift only for the quad lamps GXL/RS , but yes the earlier car with its smaller (Escort) rear lamps etc looks nicer from the rear The dash however, is way better on the Face Lift car.

I generally don’t like facelifted cars preferring the original.
However I think the Capri MK1 Facelift is one of the best looking cars ever and the best looking of all the Capri variants by a country mile.
Agreed 100%However I think the Capri MK1 Facelift is one of the best looking cars ever and the best looking of all the Capri variants by a country mile.
This Signal orange 2000S is the Capri of my era. Mark 1's were rapidly becoming tatty bangers and then they were gone. A pre facelift 69-70 Capri GT with RoStyle wheels and a good colour (Monaco or Dragoon red..?) might be my choice now though. The four headlights looked better than the single oblongs and both the RS2600 and the early US versions look very fine.

Weren't MK1 3.0's essentially bought by boy racers by the late 70's to early 80's? I remember watching the Quentin Willson piece on them which echoed something along those lines aaron_2000 said:

Yes, to a large extent, they were. In 82, £500 bought a tidy pre face lift 3 Litre car. These cars were giant killers ( in Oct 72 on 138HP guise )

I remember talking to my grandad about his V6 MK1 Capri years ago, he drove it all across Europe on family trips and ended up selling it to a local guy in his early 20's who ended up stuffing it into a wall. I've still got the tool kit and workshop manual he used to strip the engine down before a trip to Portugal in it, I'll always regret missing the boat on them.In 82, £500 bought a tidy pre face lift 3 Litre car. Was surprised to find this in a friends garage it’s the surviving 3litre convertible produced by Carbodies of Coventry. One was built but written off within the first week of evaluation so this one was built. Only one in existence
Any more photos of it ? From memory it’s H registered ?

I think in a photo album somewhere there's one where you can make out the Wolfrace wheels and some of the front end but none of any detail. It was a facelift, he's not around anymore so I can't ask him about it but everyone talks about it fondly. DVLA doesn't show it as scrapped although it's safe to assume it was, it was smashed pretty badly apparently Any photos of it ?

This Diamond white RS3100 was first registered in March 1974. @ some time in the 1980, it was fitted with a Cologne Works style body kit, wide Comomotive alloys and a glass sunroof.
It is seen here in 1992 in the nth East of England with its new owner John. Its previous owner removed the triple webbers and LSD from it, before selling it to John.
Soon after this photo was taken, John had the car re painted in Cologne Works Blue / White colours. John used it as his daily driver and then sold it in late 94 and bought a 280 Brooklands. His RS3100 went to a Scotish buyer who flew down and drove it back to Scotland.
In 97 it was for sale @ a Traders in Scotland for £2,800. It was last taxed in 98 and is now awaiting restoration.
