Thanks TR4man - ‘twas only a duff battery and off we merrily went. I’d forgotten just how lovely it is to drive - and this is after 6 years effectively laid up bar the annual visit to the MOT station. 10 miles under its belt and it was business as usual...

It’s a 4.2 auto and funnily enough the electronic choke has just started playing up - though I’m not sure it’s an AED as it’s an early model with HD carbs. I’m bypassing it manually (opening the bonnet and disconnecting the wire!) and have tracked down a replacement solenoid but the forums seem to suggest it’s easier just to splice in a toggle switch...js68 said:
