Looking good low drag. I like the dusty and well used interior.

That was my first thought. A beautiful car in its natural habitat.

Thanks TR4man - ‘twas only a duff battery and off we merrily went.

I’d forgotten just how lovely it is to drive - and this is after 6 years effectively laid up bar the annual visit to the MOT station. 10 miles under its belt and it was business as usual...

Splendid, what a beauty. Thinking about getting another XJ6, had a S2 but really fancy an S1. Does yours still have the AED fitted and working or has it been bypassed...? Is it a manual or auto..?

It’s a 4.2 auto and funnily enough the electronic choke has just started playing up - though I’m not sure it’s an AED as it’s an early model with HD carbs. I’m bypassing it manually (opening the bonnet and disconnecting the wire!) and have tracked down a replacement solenoid but the forums seem to suggest it’s easier just to splice in a toggle switch...

They’re lovely steers today. Back in the early 70s they must have felt like spaceships in contrast to anything else for the money.

Found this AED mod on a S1 Daimler Sovereign on youtube the other day, it's worth a look...

Funny story about these; in the early '70s I worked Saturdays and school holidays at Milletts head office & warehouse. Peter Millett didn't drive so he had a full time driver. This chap, Frank, was a lovely bloke but one of these chaps who couldn't put a sentence together without a few 'F-words' thrown in. One Saturday morning Frank was in the warehouse telling us he'd just visited the dealer to order Mr Millet's new Jaguar XJ6. "What colour is it?" Dave, the warehouse manager asked. "A sort of dark fking red," said Frank. "What, like a wine colour?" Dave continued. "Nah, it's better than that," said Frank. "It's fking Bordeaux." hehe I was only about 14 but I've always remember Frank and rides in Mr Peter's Jag.

Not sure of the cut off date in this thread, but here are mine.

Looks like the Mog will be off the road for a while so the 100 is on daily duties

Here's an altogether too far away shot of mine.

It's an electrical nightmare at the moment but runs well and isn't falling apart with rust!
