I think they are still cool, such 190 series and those SL series (with hardtop)
great cars to change some more modern parts on (more out of sight) such as AMG engine swap and modern suspension etc.
the SLC looks cool on pictures, but I find them a bit to long, although they can look cool in rally trim :-) (not mine)
That looks awesome in that photo. It would be nice if there was an SL length SLC somewhere around as that would be pretty perfect. great cars to change some more modern parts on (more out of sight) such as AMG engine swap and modern suspension etc.

I know what you mean, but at 4.5m they really aren't that long compared to many other classics, and the advantage is genuinely usable rear seats.

Isn't an SL with a hardtop what you're looking for?
No, because that has all of the weight (or more) and none of the advantages of a proper fixed roof car. here the difference can be seen what better SL and SLC

Also, I'd love a restomod/hot rod R129 too.
I used to drive a DS19 and I think the brake was a large rubber button, and in our local carnival they drove them round with wheels missing it looked amazing, a car I always wanted was a Traction because in 1961 in a youth hostel in Gent Belgium a passport was stolen and the police arrived in one with the siren blasting

Thank you. I bought it last year (2nd owner) and have just spent a small fortune on bringing the mechanics up to scratch. Worth every penny. I absolutely love it and it drives beautifully.
Worth it I’m sure!I have a nostalgic soft spot for these cars. My late godfather brought one back from Lagos when he returned to the UK in the late fifties. It must have been an early model. I clearly remember as a kid having the occasional run out in it the sixties. He was an architect and bought it largely for the aesthetics I think! The space-age styling, awesome interior and, of course, the single spoke steering wheel struck a huge chord with me as a youngster. Oh, and that suspension

have you still got your Escort? I used to see it at the shows in Yorkshire I was in a MK1 Crayford or a MK2 Lotus Crayford
No, it was re-homed to Scotland last year. Pleased to say the new owner is really looking after it, and it’s still running the V8. Nice to know it went to a good home I’ve now got a Mk ll Zodiac again. You still got your two? Just the weather for them
