This is my late father's old car. I tracked it down to its current owners in Skegness. Apparently the clutch failed a couple of years ago and it was parked up, then the MOT ran out at the end of 2020 and it has been sitting ever since.
After a little bit of negotiation, It is now mine.

I love this sort of thing, well done.

What was the reason you blanked out the plate?
As above, it was my late father's car - now mine and will be going back on the road. But I still don’t really understand why the fact it was your late father’s car means the plate was blanked out … am I missing something obvious?

What’s the clutch like?
Don't know yet, it is still strapped to the trailer. I am not going to try moving it again until I have replaced the strut on that side (parts on order). Can then assess the clutch. It's one of those things that is getting fixed no matter what, and I can do the work myself so don't mind spending a bit up front (before really knowing the condition)Yertis said:

Well done for tracking it down and now owning it and I’m sure it’ll be on the road again soon.
Possibly not :-) lots of projects on the go, but I couldn't miss the opportunity as they were thinking of scrapping it. It won't be years though!

I just don't want reg numbers of my cars published on the Internet, having had a car cloned in the past and the hassle of speeding tickets etc. You will see I have also blanked out mine. Personal preference is all. I get that upsets people who want to look at the MOT history etc ;-) happy to share the MOT history if anyone wants me to :-)classicaholic said:
Have you fitted caravan movers to the trailer? do they work OK moving it with a car on, might be useful for moving my trailer in tight spaces.
And I am bloody glad I did it :-)
I only fitted a single axle pair - if I was doing it again I would buy a twin axle set (two more motors and a 4 way control box that "knows" it is dual axle).
That said, it works well, just does not do tight turns as it is only a single axle system.
I made a cradle out of angle iron under the bed and fitted a leisure battery (boxed in with aluminium plate to protect it from any road debris).
The battery powers the caravan movers and the winch via isolaters and I have wired an Anderson connector in an accessible place so I could connect to the car battery or a jump pack to operate the winch or the movers (I also charge the battery via this connector).

Rover looks an interesting project, keep us updated with it.
Thanks - Will do. Just started a thread for it. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Hope this hasn't been featured before:
Ignore the dropped kerb - tihs is a derestricted road with minimal visibility. I think the property has access from a back road....

Still has its original number plates on it, which is a nice but overlooked touch.
I am assuming this is definitely an SE and not a base, given the rear parking sensors and alloys on it. Next thing to ponder over is whether it had the "business pack" - CD changer, mobile phone, possibly a TV if it was for a guy who took himself and his car that seriously.

S850 Dummy-SALAPA
^ What actually is this option? What is a SALAPA?
As far as I can find out it's not an option as per se. It's a placeholder in the options for some bit of information and because the translations don't always translate cleanly you sometimes get it just being displayed as "Dummy-SALAPA" without the detail. ^ What actually is this option? What is a SALAPA?
Examples being:
S850A Dummy-SALAPA = zusätzliche Tankfüllung Export = additional filling of fuel tank for export = they fill a bit more fuel into the tank so that the cars can be moved onto ships etc
S925A Dummy-SALAPA = Versandschutzpaket = protection for export shipping

Saw this in a Sarf London street last weekend. Carefully wrapped, either to conceal it's rare and valuable nature (!) or else to protect it until it can be restored (I doubt that wrapping will preserve it) can the eagle-eyed PistonHead gurus identify it?
It might be a clue, it might be a red herring but there were two back axles for a FWD car in the garage behind.

I'd say an MGB GT, the rear glass that can be seen looks very similar and the wheels look like rostyles. If so it also looks like it's either missing the rear hatch or the glass judging by the way the cover suddenly cuts down (the cover sits proud of the dip in the cover).
