How Many Left reckons there are less than 20 of these things still on the road. Talk about a rare sighting! I'm sure they were crap but I admire BL's commitment to reheating leftovers and serving them as an all new dish.

wow, I see a Lotus FHC Elan and a FWD Japan Lotus Elan and a Ginetta 32 or so? a Rochdale on the right?
But that yellow one... is that a window in a window?

first look thinks Tuscan, but then a MX5 with hardtop but? nah... what is that, maybe also something English?

Can you say where that Rapier is.

We visited somewhere near there and I saw this on the way home. The town we went to had the road on either side of a river/canal or some sort of waterway.

Been racking our brains trying to remember.
It’s close to Fishtoft Drove, which is just south of Frithville, which is in turn, just north of Boston, Lincs., which does indeed have the River Witham running through it.

Reliant Scimitar?
(I'll leave it up to others to decide if it is a classic or not).

Hmm.. Reliant Scimitar & a horse box. If only I could think who that puts me in mind of.

Fairly sure it's a Ginetta - dandarez will be along in a minute to clarify smile

At first glance I said "bloody hell an Elite" but no I think it's a Ginetta/Dare, little window in a fixed side window says race car to me.

Presuming you're talking about the Ambassador, I recall "Car" magazine being incredibly enthusiastic about this car when it was first launched. And about the Rover 800, too.

Spotted in Farnborough today .

A very sad looking Evo 3 that looks like it was once loved then left an odd Japanese hatch that says Corolla but not sure what it is and then something under cover can’t tell from the outline what this is hiding?

What could be under the cover?

Lotus Elan with a hardtop without bumpers? could not find a ginetta look, but a elan could be, also the way the doors go on to the front further then the front window so to speak... So a Lotus Elan with a hardtop... who can do me one better.

Because I think its something else, English, with a GRP body ala Lotus Elan

The yellow car-
Dare/Ginetta G4 has a forward hinging bonnet with "fixings" at 45 degrees, half way up the front wing, and this car has an external door handle - so not this
Lotus Elan S1,2,3,4, the trailing edge of the side window is wrong as is the rear wheel arch (it differed between the early & late series but was always a squared off arch.
Lotus Elite S1/S2, still my second favourite but again the wheel arch isn't quite correct. And again they didn't have such a definite external handle

First choice now:- an Elite replica based upon a "kit" manufactured by either Encore (Encore Super 95) or a similar body by Type 14 Components/Tolman Engineering.

Would the OP please return and ask the owner!

So two Japanese cars, a Mitsubishi and Toyota, but what is that car that is covered, it looks huge. Another Japanese car?

Good spot!
That EVO3 is sad to look at, the wheels look like Advans so worth a small fortune on their own. I expect tin worm got hold of it and led it to be sat and left in such a state, it's probably worth a fair bit if broken for parts.

Don't suppose you got the reg no? Be interesting to see if anyone on the MLR remembers it.

Most of that would be standard on a 7 series of that era - those BMW spec sheets don't differentiate between standard & option, & include all the export info For instance, S555 OBD with remote sounds awesome - but it just means the trip computer with the controls on the stalk; the only big BMWs I've seen without that were mostly white with a flashing roof rack...
At a guess I would have thought at least the sunroof, Hifi speaker system, comfort seats, electric seats with memory, CD changer, xenons and possibly things like rear airbags would have been options.

Some of them are still options on most BMWs today!
I don't think so, not an an e38: they were very well specced as standard, all of those would have been fitted from factory. Options tended to be packages such as sport or cold weather, or which alloys you preferred, whether you wanted a maintenance deal, or added security, one or two phones, electric heated rear seats, rear blinds or dark glass. The late 90s were the times when BMW, Audi & Mercedes were in a turf war for the prestige market, so they were trying to out spec each other.
My recollection is that BMW were leagues ahead of Mercedes and Audi in the 1990s in terms of technology, looks, efficiency, specifications and optional extras. If the optional extras cited in above in this thread were available in 1995/7 when Mercedes had still not released the S-Class then that's evidence in itself.

Can be fairly sure that is not left to die - that is up & running and in use. In fact, in fairly decent nick by the looks of it.
