Lovely looking cars.

I always wanted a Lancia (or Alfa) when I was young, one day perhaps.

I have a garaged HPE volumex Reg A110BBD lying in my garage as a parts car as not economical for me to restore. I need the space but cant quite convince myself to sell.

That's a nice 2 car garage wink

Thank you! I might sell the volumex to make space for my Alfa 105 restomod- the HPE volumes apparently belonged to Barry Waterhouse of Evo Engineering fame at one stage. Need to find the paperwork.

Today I saw a red HPE VX on the back of a flat bed truck heading in towards SE london, looked to be in decent condition (was heading the other way) was it anyone on here? so rare to see one of these old things on the road today.

Whilst I’m a massive Lancia fan, I remember going in a VX Coupe in the mid 80’s and thinking how dated it felt compared to an Audi Coupe or E30 BMW.

However if I’d of been in the market for a car then (I was only 13) I’d of taken the Lancia all day long for the looks and character even though it wasn’t that quick.

This was my Dad's Lancia back in the 70s.

Not long ago i was talking to my Mum about it and she remembered one time at a yoga session a lady saying it was a nice car for my Mum to tell her about all the problems and rust issues with it.

It turned out the lady was the wife of the bloke who was the head of sales for Lancia. My Mum did that embarrassed backtracking thing saying how much she liked it and how good it was hehe

Am I alone in feeling happy whenever I spot a random 2CV?

It’s like unexpectedly bumping into an old friend.

The HPE was a great steer. My mate's dad had one like that. He ended up dropping in an injected engine from the facelift. Loved driving it.

It saddens me that they can’t make stylish drivers cars like that anymore.
