Why is carandclassic.co.uk still so awful?
Discussion
Carandclassic is my favourite site for a browse. One of the attractions for me is that they are not constantly revamping their website. It does what is says on the tin and does not offer the bolt on 'extra attractions' that some of its competitors do that I actively dislike. They are always a bit half-arsed and are started with puppy like enthusiam and then fizzle out.
I particularly dislike classiccarsforsaleuk or whatever it is called. That used to be my favourite a few years ago but not since the last revamp. The blogs in particular annoy me. At least the chap who does them seems to have given up since August. It may of course be the case that it is not his decision but that the chap with the cheque book has woken up to the fact that it is not the smartest decision to employ a chap to blog for his website whose hobby-horse seems to be the decline of our hobby and the death of the petrol engine.

I like it as well, nice simple site. Only pain for me is having to keep selecting UK in the countries list each time you search. Be nice if you could set your default country.
Totally agree - That can be a pain in the arse!Jukebag said:
I like car and classic too. I suspect it's a very popular place to buy and sell a classic car, primarily because it is free. But is it really "free"?. Nothing's free in this world as they say.
Not true! - Breathing is free! (Although Ryanair may soon start charging for breathing on the flights - They seem to charge for everything else! )Apart from constantly having to re-enter UK for every search you do, the only other thing I have noted with carandclassic.co.uk is that the adverts seem to stay on the site long after the cars have been sold.
That may be simply because if you pay for your advert to be on the site for several weeks then you get those weeks regardless of when the car sells (makes things simple for the owners of the site I suspect), but it can be frustrating when you ring up about a car advertised only to be told yet again: "Oh, that car sold a couple of weeks ago!"

The folks who don't like Car and Classic but who appear to 'use' it are able to start their own website...see how they get on...
By all means complain, moan etc when PAYING for a service. But a FREE site? Weird.
As I said some time ago, I've found the site easy to use, no hassle etc etc...but people are not happy unless moaning...
Conversely, has anyone tried Autotrader recently? The site that doesn't recognise POSTCODES? Why do I need to fill a 'form' out to look at cars? Why is nobody moaning?
As an example, search for car 10 miles from where you live (via Postcode of course, assuming you have the right browser/hair colour etc) and limit yourself to a car of a maximum of £1000...why do I get cars for £17,000 coming up? On a 'page' that only lists approx' 6 cars...
Or Ebay...oh boy...

To search for cars on Car an Classic is much easier than on Autotrader and Ebay.
All are free to search on (of course).
You've not paid to be confused. It is free. Hopefully you've got value for money.
