Estimate is £20,000, so something crazy like £28-£30.000?
Yup near enough, £27,000I was sat next to one of the bidders, he was absolutely gutted when his £26,000 bid was beaten.
Nearest thing to tears without actually crying.

I sold a 2 litre Mark II Escort Mexico for £1000 ten years ago. I have had dreams where I still own it. What a plonker.
I turned down an immaculate, low mileage mk2 RS 2000, with a garage full of spares including a complete engine for £1500 and a 2 owner low mileage Series 1 RS Turbo for £2000 back in the day! My only consolation is that I still have the Sapphire Cosworth

I didn't provide any spares with mine. The cash did help me pay for a lovely RX7. Funny things Escorts - there's nothing to them but they add up to a wonderful thing to drive. Most of the individual components are crude.
Well done for snaring the Sierra.
Yes, hang on to it - the Sapphires are great cars, the SVE evaluation drivers always said they were the favourite Cosworths to drive, plus depreciation free at presentWell done for snaring the Sierra.
A few years ago the OP could have had one on his 5k list too
I've had some very good suggestions on this thread. I think I've decided that any of the aforementioned cars would fit the bill to a satisfactory degree so it's just a matter of waiting till one pops up. In light of the recent accident costing a good amount more than anticipated, it will have to be a longer-term goal at this point though (the regret is killing me).
If I can't find one I will happily just wait and save up more and more, by which point I might even have enough to just go straight to the big boys and get a Cosworth or MK1 Focus RS.

But the Mk1 Focus RS is a sufficiently "RS" car to be considered at least a Classic Ford. Special engine, special body panels, nice interior, relatively rare. And the Mk1 Focus base model was a good start. It´s just a shame this car never came with 4WD to fully capitalise on the McRae WRC Effect.

I don't get on the classic section much these days.
At only 19 I recon you did the right thing, not your fault but they will more than likely load the premium like you say, pay up and move on.
A lot of the cars mentioned are a bit too much like your ST IMO (XR4) and are really not that quick or much fun to drive.
I was recently tempted by a MK1 fiesta, £2k appears to buy you a minter, buy one that already has the alloys, seats, uprated brakes, boy racer big bore exhaust box, etc etc if you can as that will cost you a small fortune, then stick a 1600 cross flow in it on twin 40's, and I would opt for a cage.
will give you best part of 200 bhp in a 600kg car ..... FUN
forget the RS XR premium price.
the odd car comes on ebay from time to time fully sorted for not a lot of money.
600kg, don't think so!At only 19 I recon you did the right thing, not your fault but they will more than likely load the premium like you say, pay up and move on.

And how do you intend to get 200bhp out of a 1600 Kent Crossy?
