Hi all,
Ok, so am looking for to add to the few cars I have already and thinking what to get which is in this order:
1) Is a great car to drive
2) Good investment
3) Ideally European but not essential
4) Manual
5) Something that is well known for its technological advancement for the era. Handling, Engine, Motorsports etc
6) Doesnt have to be road car

I already have a 1994 Lancia Delta Integrale EVO 2 Giallo Ginestra Euro Spec with 76,000kms and a 1988 BMW E30 M3 in Diamond Schwartz Metallic with 86,000 kms - Euro Spec, 911 GT3 997 Gen 2 with 12,000 kms and 2010 RS6 V10 as daily drive. (To give you an idea as to what driving cars I prefer. I love manuals)

I was thinking of the following:
- Audi Quattro (Although the prices have moved somewhat and have no idea as to the range of models and best one to get)
- Audi RS4 in Blue
- Toyota Celia
- TVR Tuscan, late Mk1 2003 etc
- Random car (Delorean)
- Renault 5 GT Turbo (White or Raider) - Or maybe Turbo 2
- Would like 911 964 but missed the boat on the prices and am not paying 60k for one.

Looking to spend between 10 and 30,000 GBP.

would appreciate any thoughts, suggestions etc. Cheers.

Good Point mate. I have been looking for a Blue one of them at the moment. Only 2 Grey ones at present. Goot have in Blue or yellow really. RS2 VS RS4? More the case that the RS2 was their first RS? etc

Thanks.

I think the Astons, BMW 850's and and Bentleys will just be too much maintenance you know. The porkers are nice and no doubt present investment, however I am 911 fan through and through. 968's etc dont do it for me, although I know they handle well.

I thin the RS2 and the Quattro are good ones to go for. Why the WR 20V? Over others so much? There are a number of engines and proces vary significantly.

Yes, def low mileage well cared for cars is what I am looking for.

Thanks Benji, best colour by far. Love that colour. Had my old ZXR400 in that colour and loved it. Thinking of changing the RS6 into it too. Will have a think and research. The French werent the best with electrics in the 80;s or 90's hey....or for that matter...ever. : ) have considered that car before though so thanks for posting it.

Hey guys, thanks for all the information, very useful.

I think I am moving towards the RR Quattro (red or white) and the RS2 (only blue... Although will have to wait sometime to get one without intergalactic mileage on it). I do love left hoovers too, all the greats were left hand drive let's very honest.

My brother just got a Pug 1.9 GT3, with 40k miles on it, which I think are legendary. As are the R5 Gt turbo', but tthat's just me reliving my teenage days more than anything.

The NSX is a legend no doubt and i have a mate who knows these inside out so that's on the plan. Just doesn't fit exactl what iu am looking for right now. Will probably miss the boat on them as the prices are already getting stronger, what with Sennas going last month at auction too.

Others mentioned are very notable, however just personal preference.
Cosworth: Legend of a car... But still think they are a bit "chav". I prefer the Sapphire in grey, a little less understated as the wings on both the Sierra and Escort 2 door are just a bit too Halfords for me!
308: nice, looked at getting the fibreglass models as year or so ago. However I have to many mates who have been stung by Ferraris maintenance wise you know. What something a little less temperamental.

993 or 964: no doubt both would be a sound investment in the long term, howeveriI outright refuse to pay 993 at the moment, it's gone bonkers. I love porkers, however I believe my Gen2 997 GT3 will be one of the best investments in the long term, what with being the last manual GT3 and all. (unless the new Gt3 RS is going to be offered in a manual version like some rumours suggest) I got this one for a steal so already negated the value and paid only a little more than a low mileage clean 993 4 or 2 fully loaded in mint. And... The 997 Gen 2 gt3 is, as many say, one of porsches best handling cars ever. For me, having had some variations over the years, the driving experience is similar across the years, so the gt3 for me personally, is the best, and also the most comfortable, which means iI can drive it regul rly.

Lastly, I think the M5 is a rock solid suggestion and would have been on the list if I didn't just get the E30 M3. I also looked at the Merc 190 cosworth, however in all honesty, the standard model looks like a bloody German taxi and the EVO is astronomical and the spoiler is as comedy as the Sierra cosworth. I honestly couldn't pull up to the lights with that spoiler.... I would laugh at someone.... Whilst also giving them respect forthe car. Still... I would laugh... It does looks funny as.

Subaru Impreza 22B: the dog's dangly bits. Just over 400 built. Ticks all the boxes.
The Subaru is the nuts in Blue with Gold wheels, a legend.

Thanks for all the suggestions lads. Love all the cars and nice to get a few left field suggestions too.

The Alpina is lovely, I know of 2 here in Dubai, very limited run and I have always lovd the Alpina rims. They used to be dirt cheap, however with the EVO's up in price many realise the massive value with the limited Alpina run and the larger lump in it. Good call.

Thanks for that Speedy, I was going to put all the suggestions from other members into one list but you beat me to the chase there mate. Cheers, its like a sweetie shop except we ain't playing with penny sweets anymore hey!

From that this I think these are on the agenda first. Just have to figure out a way to 1) By them and store them in the UK without the wife finding out I have bought yet more cars...and 2) Improving relations even more with my brother so I can store more cars with him! : )

Top 10:
Audi Quattro (RR?)
Audi RS2 (In Nogaro Blue of course!)
Renault 5 Turbo (White or Raider) ....Maybe Clio Williams.
Tuscan Speed 6 (been on the radar for some time now, has to be Reflex purple. Should have bought one last year when they were 15k! not they are 20 plus...still, I think you can get a deal in winter)
BMW M5 of some sort....or perhaps a nice E39 CSi in Silver.
Nissan Skyline (Legend)
Subaru Impreza
VW Gold Mk2 Gti (In that nice metallic green or Blue)
Lotus Esprit (Random addition, old shape in JPS Black and Gold....nice)
Celica (Hugely undervalued at the moment I think and a good purchase)

My mate here has a 205 Rallye with just 30,000 kms on the clock, its mint and I think he would sell. Also my brother in the UK has a 1.9 GTi with like 64,000 miles on it. I am trying to get him to keep it, however he has been offered £6,000 for it and I think he is gonna take it. Annoying. He also has a Integrale 8 Valve but its a little tired, nice though and new rally engine from Auto Integrale with Keith installed for him and its rapid now so good for a laugh.

Many of the other cars are a bit chav for me to be honest. Lovely, but just cant see myself in them:
For Sierra's and Cosworths (Although the Sapphire is nice)
Lotus Carlton, nice...but again too close to the standard looks.
Vauxhall Cavelier etc

Good thread, lots of the usual suspects but also some left field cars I wouldnt have thought of.

Cheers

Thanks mate.

Aye, I bought my Lancia Integrale EVO 2 at 4 Star Classics. Not cheap there, but some nice cars.

Cheers.
