I had my sons name put together in kanji for tattooing onto my right shoulder.
Why? I just dont understand this sort of stuff. If you want something to remind you of your son why not just carry a nice picture of him in your wallet?

First-timer advice please. As part of my mid-life crisis (divorce, forced house sale, inappropriate relationships with younger women, TVR, etc.) I want to get a very simple tribal/Celtic design on my thigh. I'm guessing that a simple design actually needs a high level of skill (less is more, all that) and I'm not finding websites very helpful so I would like to find a well-recommended practitioner to chat it through with - does anyone have any recommendations of good people to talk to?
Anywhere home counties / Oxford / London....

The best in the country (with awards to prove it) is Midland Tattoo centre in Cannock Staffs. Kevin Shercliff. He is brilliant. Have a couple of discreat tats and i would'nt go anywhere else. Anywhere home counties / Oxford / London....

No I don't think all tattoos are chav, as long as they are tasteful and reasonably discreet I don't see anything wrong with them.
Quite. However, I think for too many people they're a fashion statement too far. They get them because some magazine or other told them to.I think the saddest ones are the Disney characters. You're effectively branding yourself as the product of some big American corporation.

How about this for an assumption. In my experience the sort of person who constantly points out what he believes to be some ones bad points is trying to mask their own insecurities. I bet the first to point out typo’s and spelling mistakes on the MB. I also would imagine your quite ugly or have a very small penis. And probably bullied at school……It’s a shame the guy didn’t hear you turn around and give you a proper spanking geek boy. Or you could grow some balls and take the piss out of them to their face!!

Kev Shercliff? He used to have a place in Stafford didn't he? I popped in a couple of times but never got round to having anything done.I'm not a particular fan of tattoos myself as they always seem a bit needy as if the person is trying to add some product differentiation to themselves, but hey, it's a free country and everyone to their own etc.
With regard to all the people with 'kanji' tattoos, when I worked in the far east for a while, my oriental colleagues used to piss themselves inside out laughing at the stupid gweilos (as they put it) with random words scribbled on them in a language they didn't understand. Oddly enough, there aren't many Chinese with their kids names tattoo'd on them in Times New Roman!![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)

The story it's self was funny and if told without bias would have opened some good debate. But for you to label them Chav's and Lord above them like you’re some kind of fashion/culture guru.
I have met a lot of people in my time and it's probably fair to say you could pigeon hole a good percentage of them. However time and time again I have had my own stereotypes challenged to the point now I try and take people on face value.
A good example: Middle aged man in a suit works for the local council in a very senior position. Really articulate fascinating and intelligent. He is an avid fund raiser campaigner for a children’s charity. Under his suit from his ankle to his collar line is covered in tattoos. All completed by a bell end and sack piercing.
I am thinking of getting a tattoo done
Kiss my ass, tattooed on my ASS………. is that discreet enough for you!

So your rant is rather pointless (hence why I had to ask who it was directed at).Now be a good boy and log in under your real name.

While wandering around our local park yesterday a chav couple walked in front of us, and my girlfriend suddenly started laughing at something.
A chav couple!! Based on a dodgy tattoo? Tell me would if you had to addressed them would you call them Chav couple to their face? I doubt it.

Your making the assumption that I called her a chav because of the tattoo, when in fact, I didn't.While wandering around our local park yesterday a chav couple walked in front of us, and my girlfriend suddenly started laughing at something.

Why would I call them a chav couple to their face?

If I spoke to every low-life I saw walking around, I'd be doing a lot of talking. At least by defacing themselves with retarded symbols, it's very straightforward to identify them from a distance.
Perhaps they could simply be encouraged to all have "OIK" or "PLEB" (I don't think "LUMPENPROLETARIAT" will fit on their small and sloping foreheads) inked in bold across their heads (maybe by waving a four-pack of White Lightning or 25 Royals in front of them)?

In my opinion to describe a complete stranger in a disparaging manner is extremely conceited.
