I must admit to thinking that this thread, which ranged from the ridiculous to the sublime, had finally given up the ghost some time ago. How about giving it a decent burial by applying the Vulcan moderator lock technique?
As for the other forum. Page 525? Some people need to get out more often!
why close it if people are still having fun enjoying reading about these things? As for the other forum. Page 525? Some people need to get out more often!

I think we've got some way to go. These guys are on page 525 of their mass debate. ![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)
I remember joining into that thread about page 300... got ignored and they carried on debating... basically of what i read, folk read the 1st post, then reply... then get into the same old arguments. and on and on![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)

I wonder whether Top Gear, in one of their mad experiments, would test this plane/conveyor belt hypothesis.
Might be worth suggesting the idea to them. At least it would settle the argument.
you know people would not be happy with the results which ever way it went Might be worth suggesting the idea to them. At least it would settle the argument.
The silly thing is the answer was about the 4th post down on the other thread:-
If the plane has enough power to overcome the additional drag on the wheels (as planes use displaced air as propulsion, not rotating the wheels!
), then yes, it will take off...possibly with burst tyres, however.
Now someone lock this damn thing!!!

Noooooooooo ............. not again. The horror, the horror! If the plane has enough power to overcome the additional drag on the wheels (as planes use displaced air as propulsion, not rotating the wheels!

What if the conveyoy belt was on another conveyor belt going the opposite way?
What if the whole scenario was gymballed, so any action would cause it to rotate?
Would a plane take up upside down on a conveyor belt, or would the thrust simply rotate the belt around the C of G of the device?

Bliarout, instead of just insisting on your (incorrect) viewpoint, why don't you back it up with science/evidence/experimentation?
Just give him a bitchslap and tell him to shut up.![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
