I'm gonna have to admit I don't know much about beer so I can organise it if (1) someone can get Headley Court's number (I'm not rolling up with a keg to find out they aren't allowed to drink) (2) someone can recommend a brand to buy!

I think I'll start a new thread.

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour by the woman. I would have asked her to leave and banned her. But good on the club for standing their ground.

Nice idea on the beer - nothing the average squaddie likes more than a bit of booze. Except some blart...

If someone can check with the centre, I am happy to chip in.

A phone number for Headley court shouldn't be too much of an issue. I'll see what I can do. I can probably organise something through "official" channels if needs be. There are some advantages to being an army brat!

what a ing whore.

i hope her ing children drown.

my dear old mum suggested writing a letter of petition to the manager of the leisure centre suggesting the close the entire swimming baths for the EXCLUSIVE use of the serviceman like they do for schoolkids so they don't have to put up with these mindless tard bitches and their evil offspring. I hope her whole ing family is involved in a paralysing coach crash in Gstaad and she recieves substandard medical aid leaving her disfigured for life. or preferably a wheel falls off her X5 and leaves her upside down in a ditch for several hours with no medical aid.

What kind of ed up state do we live in, they blame everything on the foreigners but i've met 2-3 E europeans today who were all polite and friendly and one 50 something indiginous old hag who was the rudest ing woman i ever met.

This made me so mad.

This has really boiled my P$*s. I'd like to make a donation to a beer fund if possible.

I see on the "SUN" website, they have a number to ring if you know the evil bitch in question. Hope she gets identified and receives some sort of retribution.

While I agree that this is very wrong, does anyone know if this is exactly what happened, or has this story been 'massaged' by the red top papers for a good story ?

Me too, ignorant bitch of the first class. Maybe she could try telling her "little children", that those brave soldiers have been to war, and got injured. A total bloody disgrace.

No less accurate than what NDA said:
Unfortunately today's underclass woman is a completely brain dead moron who lives in a spitefull little world full of tacky luxuries bought with middleclass money.
Just provide a refund and throw the idiot out, regardless of "class".

Indeed. To me that was an ideal opportunity to explain a bit of the world to her kids. As someone else said. Give her her cash back (40p I guess), and send her packing.

There is a special charity that has been set up to raise money for disabled serviceman, they are currently trying to raise 5 million for a dedicated swimming pool and therapy centre for the serviceman so they can be rehabilitated in peace without having to put up with this sort of thing in future.

Tou may have seen recent press reports about the latest sorry events at Headley Court, the armed forces rehabilitation centre in Surrey.

Two soldiers, both amputees, were taken to the local public swimming pool as part of their rehabilitation. A lane of the pool was roped off so that they could do lengths (Shamingly, Headley court has no pool long enough for this).

One woman in her thirties complained that they should not have part of the pool closed for them when "She had paid and they hadn't" and another complained that the sight of two men with amputated limbs might scare her children. When the sport centre refused their request to eject the two servicemen and their instructor, the women became so abusive to the servicemen that their instructor ended their training session for fear of violence.

Whatever one thinks of the merits of our two current deployments, this is simply outrageous.
Any chance of an address (or e mail) for the aforementioned swimming centre, so we can voice our disgust at the clientele they entertain? I will tell them in no uncertain terms that they should have forcibly ejected, and banned, the screaming witch for her lack of respect and general uselessness to the human race.

I stayed at Headley Court back in the late 80's and early 90's after having a bad motorbike accident while serving with the Royal Artillery. What an amazing place it was at the time. A gorgeous Surrey country house with it's own gym, sauna and full rehabilitation facilities. I remember going to the local swimming baths as well, as it was the first time I'd done any high board diving! smile It was also the first time I'd been in a sauna too, as the Headley Court one was reserved for the officers frown

Most of the people I met there at the time were injured due to negligence and accidents, as there wasn't a war on terror then, just a war on health and safety I think smile It was a very nice place to rehabilitate though, and much better than the old barracks at Chessington we were in before then.
I took a drive by there one day a good few years after being medically retired from the forces, and was kindly but firmly asked to move on by one of the guards smile Point taken, it is a military base after all.
Not sure if they're going to allow you to drop off a keg of beer though, I'm sure the people who now run the NAFFI will not be pleased with the competition.
Totally disgraceful way of carrying on by the women in that pool though, let's hope they can name and shame.

As much as I would support such a venture, I think it is sweeping the problem under the carpet. These men should not be hidden away from the public, they are not freaks, just the opposite - they are heroes.

Whilst I broadly agree with the sentiment of your posts, the fact remains that people with disabilities, and particularly those who were crippled in military action, should not be required to hide away from the general public, lest they offend.

There is however, an argument to made for the benefits of rehabilitation-in-public, obviously the war veterans will have to return to life in the community at some point. (Obviously I defer to any medical opinion that there should be a private facility for these guys).

In short, the problem is not the disabled, but the public though I tend to agree with Mr.B, that the story is probably fabricated or exagerated.

(Sorry Saddle Bum, didn't see your post)

You may have a point. If I turn up carrying a large, heavy, black rucksack, doing my best to look foreign, I'm sure I'll be in a coffin quicker than I could say, "Merry Christmas!".

BTW from the A24 (on the way to Boxhill), I see signs pointing to Headley Court. Do I just follow them or will I end up getting lost in the Surrey countryside?
