They do have a good reputation and I'd be happy to receive a Tiffany & Co box with a gift in. But I'd be please to receive any jewellery! I may have a couple of boxes and contents that came from a little out of the way shop in Dubai, but I've never actually worn it because I prefer to wear quality products rather than rip off and knowing my luck I'd end up with green skin!

Tiffany are a bit like Burberry.

They once had a good name for themselves but tarnished it by cashing in on it with all the cheaper items a few years ago. I think Tiffany make good stuff but now have a chavy image. How many people see their new Tiffany necklace or bracelet on Jade Goody or Kerry Katona.

Some of the smaller heart and tear stuff was nice before everyone had it but much of it now, to me, is vulgar Tiffany stamped footballer's wife bling.

I think that's the problem when you have 'entry level' products - everyone then has one.

I've bought a lot of Tiffany stuff over the years as gifts, you're paying for the guaranteed quality and design. Some of the silver bangles and bracelets are lovely and no girl would ever not wear something tasteful from Tiffany.

As suggested elsewhere, don't try to get a bargain, it probably won't be Tiffany & Co when you get it.

Agree with you on this one I have the usual return to tiffany bracelet but I also have a bangle and matching ring

All girls love the box but if you can go for something a bit more different might be more expensive but the look you get off her face will make it all worthwhile.

I bought that very bracelet recently for a friend's 40th....

There's also the mesh bracelet that I've bought a few of, in both silver and gold - a lot heavier, but a lovely thing... The gold one is beautiful.

I was given a Tiffany heart before they became uber chavvy and ripped off. It means a lot to me so I still wear it, although when some chav in a queue asked me where I got it from - was it Argos? Cos it looked well nice, I cried.
Lots of fakes on ebay.. If you really want Tiffany, best to go to Tiffany & Co..
It was from Tiffany and Co. frown

A few years ago I bought a pair of simple silver studs from T&C and they were about £40 (v cheap - thought there was some mistake) when I looked online (due to losing one) the same ones are £105.

My o/half loves Tiffany's but then I cannot see the point of jewellery in general (but then, she thinks a McLaren F1 is a waste of money followed my me collecting firewood and howling 'burn the heretic' so to each their own!)

Been there a few times now in NY but on the last occassion, I got a degree of 'attitude' from a sales assistant (there was a nick in the pendant that I had bought and was collecting from them - only saw it when I had a chance to see it 'cleaned' rather than in the display downstairs) that was like something out of a Chris Rock movie - I was gobsmacked! She even refused to get me her supervisor.

Absolutely no way was I putting up with that nonsense, went over and got a supervisor myself and they had it repolished etc so that it all looked nice etc for my wife's 30th (the reason of the trip). Supervisor could not have been more helpful while the sales assistant leaned, arms crossed, against a wall behind her giving me death looks and rolling her eyes! I could not believe what I was seeing - I thought I was being wound up for some hidden camera show.

Other than that, sales experience there has been great but I hope that sales assistant is gone.

Not in to jewellry myself but when My mum was in New York in 1999 she brought me a Tiffany's silver keyring. Was about £100 I think but I've still got it now and it has stood the test of time very well. I would say the wokrmanship is very high.

Tiffany can only be bought (new) from Tiffany & Co. Many fakes from the usual suspects being flogged on ebay. Bought my missus a bracelet for her first birthday after we met; Tiffany & Co now send me a catalogue every year as her birthday approaches.

They also sent one a couple of weeks before St. Valentines Day, Easter, Christmas and any other occasion that a man may want to buy his wife/sister/mum/nan/lover a Tiffany & Co piece of Tom.

As with anything, why should what other people think matter?

If you/your missus likes it, then why should other people stop you buying your burberry/tiffany/ferrari etc...

I agree. I've been to Tiffany in London with the other half quite a few times and the people buying in the shops are certainly not chav's.....well not in London anyway.

Tiffany do some really great stuff, but also some awful looking items-perfect if you are a WAG smile

I have bought from the Sloane Square shop many a time for very close friends 30th's birthdays-boys get the cufflinks and girls, either a picture frame, compact or something like that. I also got my twins nieces a braclet for their christening-they can wear it when they are much older. The staff in there are very nice and pleasant and raised a smile when my niece decided to fill her nappy up upstairs laugh

Does anyone have any views on Tiffany jewellery? Good or a posh Elizabeth Duke?

I want to buy a silver necklace (she likes silver, I'm not being cheap smile ) and some of their stuff looks really nice.

Does anyone know anywhere to get a good deal on it buying over the internet?
I find their jewellery to be over priced. Our local jeweller provides a better quality of diamond for better value for money. Though this is down to them being able to buy their own diamonds and work with them instore, thus creating exactly what you want. Since diamonds are bought in US$ there is more of a saving to be had.
