There was also Kenickie who was front by the lovely Lauren Laverne. There was other girls in the band but the jury are still out on whether they were really binmen in drag.
Not a girl group, the drummer was Lauren's brother. One of the other members of the group wasn't bad looking.

In your car

Lauren Laverne didn't front Kenickie, she shared lead vocals with Marie du Santiago who was the better singer and leads on there biggest singles (e.g. Nightlife)

Whilst we're doing Lauren Laverne, so to speak, I think it's only fair that this one is posted:

Lush are another forgotten girl-fronted 90s indie band - Ladykiller is a great track.
*SIGH*

I used to think Miki Berenyi was gorgeous;

"Undertow" is one the best shoegazing songs, ever.
Preferred Emma to Miki. Ladykiller was ok, but For Love was their best by far.

Zut alors, non!
That was my guess from reading the thread title. I had the pleasure of their drummer stage diving onto me at a Nirvana gig at Leeds Poly one year. I got a momentary face full of her chest and then never saw here again.

Did I drop a catch?

Wendy James - I stroked her leg at a gig in Manchester one year, it was a bit prickly yes

Still, wish I'd bought shares in Andrex at the time.

5 pages into a thread titled 1990s indie girl band and no mention of Veruca Salt? yikes
THE definitive Indie Girl band (yes I know they at times had 1 or 2 blokes in the band, but it was all about Louise and Nina, wasn't it?)

I still listen to Seether after a night out when I get home. Am I looking through rose tinted glasses, or was the 90's a cracking time for indie music? Whether I remember getting home or not I always go downstairs to find the same Faith no More, Sleeper, Elastica, Sonic youth, Sisters, Cult et al albums strewn over the floor. I dont get as excited about new music (apart form The view, I love that album!) As the older stuff.

I think it was, although the 80's were as well. A bit off topic but the music industry in going through big upheavals at the moment and trying to establish a new economic model, the trickle down effect means there is little money put into nurturing new bands, the counter argument is that music is cheaper to produce and disseminate, but without a bit of critical market mass to feed off I think a lot of bands give up before they have matured. Plus the youth of today is more into other stuff, computer games etc.
